Identifying central symptom clusters and correlates among post-COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis patients: a network analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundPrevious studies have analyzed symptom clusters in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, evidence regarding the core symptom clusters and their influencing factors in patients with post-COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis (PCPF ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Symptom Clusters in Patients Receiving Chemotherapy: A Systematic Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Since 2001, symptom cluster research has grown considerably. However, because multiple methodological considerations remain, ongoing synthesis of the literature is needed to identify gaps in this area of symptom science.

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Neutralization of the PTX3/CD44 axis suppresses TGF‐β1 signaling in kidney fibrosis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the PTX3/CD44 axis promotes kidney fibrosis by activating TGF‐β1 signaling. We demonstrate that the neutralizing antibody WHC‐001 effectively inhibits this pathway, suppressing myofibroblast activation and partial epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Differences in symptom clusters based on multidimensional symptom experience and symptom burden in stroke patients

open access: yesScientific Reports
In the study of stroke symptoms, a significant unresolved issue remains: What are the similarities and differences in the use of three symptom dimensions—occurrence, severity, and distress—and symptom burden to identify symptom clusters, and which level ...

Predictive and prognostic biomarkers of Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin therapy failure in bladder cancer patients: A systematic review

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
High‐risk bladder cancer is typically treated with Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin (BCG), but 30–40% of patients relapse. No FDA‐ or CE‐approved biomarkers currently predict or prognosticate BCG failure. We systematically reviewed the literature and identified 72 eligible studies, revealing several promising biomarkers associated with BCG treatment response ...
