Hyper-Synchronization, De-Synchronization, Synchronization and Seizures

open access: yes, 2012
Ranging from its most basic mechanisms to the clinical symptoms, epilepsy is tightly associated with the word “synchronization”. In fact, synchronization phenomena underlying epilepsy are described in several mechanisms at different temporal and spatial scales.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Finite-time cluster synchronization for time-varying delayed complex dynamical networks via hybrid control

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
Throughout this article, the conundrum on finite-time cluster synchronization is investigated for time-varying delayed complex dynamical networks using a kind of new hybrid control scheme.

Neuronal Synchronization Can Control the Energy Efficiency of Inter-Spike Interval Coding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The role of synchronous firing in sensory coding and cognition remains controversial. While studies, focusing on its mechanistic consequences in attentional tasks, suggest that synchronization dynamically boosts sensory processing, others failed to find ...

Complete chaotic synchronization in mutually coupled time-delay systems

open access: yes, 2007
Complete chaotic synchronization of end lasers has been observed in a line of mutually coupled, time-delayed system of three lasers, with no direct communication between the end lasers.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

A Multi-site Information Synchronization Scheme Based on Hankel Matrix Singular Value Decomposition [PDF]

open access: yesDianli jianshe
[Objective] The synchronization of information in intelligent substations is of great significance for the intelligent diagnosis and protection of power system faults, of which the satellite clock synchronization method is widely used.

Ordinal Synchronization: Using ordinal patterns to capture interdependencies between time series

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce Ordinal Synchronization ($OS$) as a new measure to quantify synchronization between dynamical systems. $OS$ is calculated from the extraction of the ordinal patterns related to two time series, their transformation into $D$-dimensional ...
