Small-signal synchronization stability of grid-forming converter influenced by multi time-scale control interaction

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
The grid-forming (GFM) converters that simulate the dynamics of synchronous generators (SGs) and actively participate in grid voltage and frequency regulation are increasingly employed as grid interfaces for renewable energy generation.

Transition from anticipatory to lag synchronization via complete synchronization in time-delay systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The existence of anticipatory, complete and lag synchronization in a single system having two different time-delays, that is feedback delay $\tau_1$ and coupling delay $\tau_2$, is identified.

Synchronization Stability Enhancement of Grid-Following Converter Under Inductive Power Grid

open access: yesIEEE transactions on energy conversion, 2023
The loss of synchronization (LOS) is a main issue for dynamic behavior of grid-following converter (GFC) under inductive power grid. This letter reveals the underlying mechanism of insufficient damping or even negative damping during grid disturbance ...

Synchronization stability and multi-timescale analysis of renewable-dominated power systems.

open access: yesChaos, 2023
Synchronization is one of the key issues in three-phase AC power systems. Its characteristics have been dramatically changed with the large-scale integration of power-electronic-based renewable energy, mainly including a permanent magnetic synchronous ...

Synchronization Stability of Grid-Connected VSC With Limits of PLL

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2023
Limits of phase locked loop (PLL) are necessary to make sure the transient converter frequency bounded in a safety range. This leads to the grid-connected voltage source converter (VSC) with limits of PLL as one switched system.

Self-stabilization with global rooted synchronizers

open access: yesProceedings. 18th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (Cat. No.98CB36183), 2002
We propose a self-stabilizing synchronization technique, called the {\it Global Rooted Synchronization}, that synchronizes processors in a tree network. This synchronizer can be used as a compiler to convert a synchronous protocol $P$ for tree networks into a self-stabilizing version of $P$ for tree networks.

Transient Damping Method for Improving the Synchronization Stability of Virtual Synchronous Generators

open access: yesIEEE transactions on power electronics, 2021
The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) was proposed to emulate a synchronous machine's dynamics when integrating power electronic converter-based distributed energy resources to the power grid.
