Multiple Primary Malignancies: A Clinicopathological Profile of Patients at a Tertiary Center of North India—A Retrospective Hospital-Based Observational Study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical and Paediatric Oncology
Introduction The incidence, prevalence, as well as survival of cancer patients, is increasing day by day due to the use of screening and improved diagnostic modalities. Simultaneously, the development of multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) in

Double Trouble – Synchronous Primary Malignant Neoplasms: A Case Report

open access: yesThe Annals of African Surgery, 2022
Synchronous primary malignancy (SPM) is rare. We herein present a case of gastric carcinoma (GC) and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) to highlight the fact that the occurrence of RCC as a synchronous tumor along with GC is rare and that a high index of ...

Alternative designs of a superconducting synchronous generator: the Southampton approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The paper describes various designs undertaken at the University of Southampton for building both cored and coreless superconducting synchronous generators using high temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes.

A Self-Learning Solution for Torque Ripple Reduction for Non-Sinusoidal Permanent Magnet Motor Drives Based on Artificial Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents an original method, based on artificial neural networks, to reduce the torque ripple in a permanent-magnet non-sinusoidal synchronous motor.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Second primary malignancies: A clinicopathological study from a tertiary care centre

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Scientific Research
Background: Second primary malignancy (SPM) is defined as a second de novo malignant neoplasm arising in a patient with known primary malignancy. SPM is common and can occur synchronously or metachronously.

Tree parsing with synchronous tree-adjoining grammars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Restricting the input or the output of a grammar-induced translation to a given set of trees plays an important role in statistical machine translation. The problem for practical systems is to find a compact (and in particular, finite) representation of ...
