Synchronous motion modulates animacy perception

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2015
Visual motion serves as a cue for high-level percepts. The present study reports novel modulation of animacy perception through synchronous motion. A target dot moving along a random trajectory was presented. The trajectory was generated based on a variant of 1/f noise; hence, the dot could be perceived as animate.

Evaluation of Synchronous Motion in Five-axis Machining Centers With a Tilting Rotary Table

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2007
This paper proposes a new method for evaluating the synchronous inaccuracy of a translational axis and a rotational axis in five-axis controlled machining centers with a tilting rotary table.

Observability analysis of sensorless synchronous machine drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper studies the local observability of synchronous machines using a unified approach. Recently, motion sensorless control of electrical drives has gained high interest.

Synchronized multi-character motion editing [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2009
The ability to interactively edit human motion data is essential for character animation. We present a novel motion editing technique that allows the user to manipulate synchronized multiple character motions interactively. Our Laplacian motion editing method formulates the interaction among multiple characters as a collection of linear constraints and

Selected synchronous state of the vibration system driven by three homodromy eccentric rotors

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2020
In order to verify that the vibration system driven by multi-eccentric rotors has multiple synchronous states, a model of three eccentric rotors horizontal installation of plane motion is established to study the coupling dynamic characteristics.

Coupling Synchronization Criterion of Two Hydraulic Motors in an Eccentric Rotary Vibration Machine

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
In an eccentric rotating system driven by two hydraulic motors without synchronous gears, vibration coupling may help render motion stable. In order to investigate how vibration coupling influences the motion, the coupling characteristics of the ...

On the Spinning Motion of the Hovering Magnetic Top [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In this paper we analyze the spinning motion of the hovering magnetic top. We have observed that its motion looks different from that of a classical top.

Motion transparency promotes synchronous perceptual binding

open access: yesVision Research, 2004
While identified regions of human extrastriate visual cortex are functionally specialized for processing different attributes of an object, the cognitive and neural mechanisms by which these attributes are dynamically bound into integrated percepts are still largely mysterious.

Motion2language, unsupervised learning of synchronized semantic motion segmentation

open access: yesNeural Computing and Applications, 2023
In this paper, we investigate building a sequence to sequence architecture for motion to language translation and synchronization. The aim is to translate motion capture inputs into English natural-language descriptions, such that the descriptions are generated synchronously with the actions performed, enabling semantic segmentation as a byproduct, but
