Abstract This paper discusses optimal controller structure design for a Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM). Optimization of controller parameters is based on a new modified BAT optimization algorithm (mBAT). SynRM is represented with a nonlinear dynamic model of a synchronous machine.

Overview of Electric Scooter operating on Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM)
International Journal of Engineering Research in Mechanical and Civil Engineering (IJERMCE), 2022this paper deals in research and review of a 3-phase motor inverter to run a designed synchronous reluctance motor which would be used in electric scooters. The synchronous reluctance motor falls in the category of rare earth free magnet motors, yet provides better efficiency and gives straight competition to other AC and DC motors.

Studying crawling effect in Line-Start Synchronous Reluctance Motors (LS-SynRM)
2016 IEEE 25th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2016Line starting capability of Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM) is a crucial challenge in their design that if solved, could lead to a valuable category of motors. In this paper, the so-called crawling effect as a potential problem in Line-Start Synchronous Reluctance Motors (LS-SynRM) is analyzed.

The classic dq model does not take into account the machine’s saturation and cross magnetization. This paper presents an improved dq model and a new technique to determine the electromagnetic parameters of a PMa-SynRM under saturation condition. These parameters are computed by means of an upgraded analytical magnetic model of the motor and the Frozen ...

A Modulation Strategy for a Three Level Inverter Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) Drive
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015In this paper, two modulation strategies called Mod-1 and Mod-2 are compared for a three-level diode neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM) drive. These modulation strategies do not operate at a fixed switching frequency.

The performance of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) depends on the direct-axis inductance (L d ) and the quadrature-axis inductance (L q ) of the machine. Increasing the saliency ratio L d /L q and making the difference between these inductances (L d −L q ) large are well known methods for achieving high torque density and power factor.

This paper introduces a new method to stabilize synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs) driven by efficiency optimized V/f control utilizing optimized flux. Efficiency optimized V/f driven SynRMs are prone to instabilities. Specifically, it becomes unstable for either fast ramp acceleration or large load disturbances.
