Synergistic effects in hydrogen–helium bubbles

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2012
The detrimental effects of hydrogen and helium on structural materials undergoing irradiation are well documented, if not well understood. There is experimental evidence to suggest that a synergistic effect between the two elements exists, which results in increased damage when both are present.

Synergistic effects in plasma-surface interactions

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1984
Abstract The possible synergistic effects which can contribute to plasma-surface interaction phenomena in fusion devices are reviewed. These effects include the influence of reactive ions, surface modification, temperature, radiation damage, and external forces and fields on erosion yields, hydrogen retention and release, and other surface processes.

The Synergistic Effects of Different Radiations

Radiation Research, 1980
Theoretical expressions, based on the Theory of Dual Radiation Action, are derived to calculate the effects of mixed radiation exposures on survival distributions. Temporal effects (such as recovery from sublethal injury) are explicitly included in the calculations.

Synergistic effect ofSacoglottis gabonensis bark extract,

Mycotoxin Research, 1988
Aflatoxin B1 metabolism was studied using microsomal and cytosolic fractions isolated from weanling male Fischer F344 rats given in drinking water for 7 days an aqueous extract ofSacoglottis gabonensis bark, 0.1% ethanol solution, or a solution containing both extract and ethanolad libitum.

Synergistic Effects of Risk Factors

Clinical and Experimental Hypertension. Part A: Theory and Practice, 1990
Risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, congestive heart failure and total mortality were analysed in two random population samples of men in Gothenburg, Sweden, aged 50 and 47-55 years, respectively, at entry. A series of potential risk factors for the above mentioned end-points have been analysed in univariate and multivariate logistic

Synergistic Effect of Zinc and Gibberellin

Nature, 1959
DWARF beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) were sown in John Innes seed compost and, when emergence had occurred, the seedlings were transplanted into 2½-in. pots using the John Innes potting compost.

Toxicity and possible synergistic effects of ultrasound

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1976
Extensive literature exists on the biological effects of ultrasound, and there are excellent summaries of much of this literature.47779 In addition, there have been a few attempts to extrapolate toxicity threshold data to clinically relevant exposure conditions.6*7 Based on these extrapolations, it is fashionable to conclude that risks are too high to ...

Synergistic antimyeloma effects of zoledronate and simvastatin

Anti-Cancer Drugs, 2006
Despite advances in the treatment of multiple myeloma, it remains an incurable disease because of primary and secondary drug resistance. Mevalonate pathway inhibitors like bisphosphonates and statins have antimyeloma activity in vitro at very high concentrations, which may probably not be reached in vivo.

Studies of the Synergistic Effect

Separation Science and Technology, 1981
Abstract Two aspects of synergism in solvent extraction are reviewed dependence on temperature and on the organic solvent. Temperature dependence studies allow calculation of the enthalpy and entropy changes associated with the synergistic reaction which is defined as: where M = metal cation, X = primary extractant, S = secondary extractant.

Synergistic anticholinergic and antiserotonergic effects in humans

Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, 1995
Animal research suggests an important interactive role for ascending cholinergic and serotonergic systems in modulation of cerebral function. Employing a randomized, double-blind, crossover design, 11 healthy young adults were tested in each of four conditions: (1) placebo, (2) fenfluramine (a serotonin depleting agent), (3) scopolamine (a muscarinic ...
