Myelodysplasia‐Related Gene Mutation Burden Is Associated With Complete Remission After Induction Therapy in Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Not Otherwise Specified: Reclassification According to the Updated Classifications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Updated classifications incorporating myelodysplasia‐related (MR) gene mutations reclassify many cases previously diagnosed as acute myeloid leukemia, not otherwise specified (AML, NOS). We evaluated the clinical significance of MR gene mutation burden, defined by mutation number and variant allele frequency (VAF), in AML, NOS ...

Climate‐driven niche filtering limits post‐dispersal establishment and genomic introgression in a riverine shrub

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Integrated biogeographic analysis and macroecological insights reveal that habitat differences drive genetic differentiation Debregeasia orientalis C. J. Chen, a dominant riparian shrub distributed across multiple biodiversity hotspots, and different lineages vary greatly in adaptability to future climate.

RING E3 ligase SNIPER8 functions redundantly with three close homologs to regulate the turnover of transcriptional co‐repressor TPR1

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The Arabidopsis E3 ligase SNIPER8 negatively regulates immunity by promoting ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of the transcriptional corepressor TOPLESS‐RELATED1, limiting excessive immune responses, maintaining immune homeostasis, and balancing defense activation and normal plant growth.

Natural variation in the GNH1 promoter enhances plant height and grain yield in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Natural variation in the GRAIN NUMBER AND PLANT HEIGHT 1 (GNH1) promoter alleviates repression by the C2H2‐type transcription factor ZFP36, upregulating GNH1 expression and promoting auxin accumulation, thereby increasing rice plant height and grain yield. This elite allele serves as a valuable genetic resource for molecular breeding of high‐yield rice.

The Keystone‐Pathogen Hypothesis Updated: The Role of Porphyromonas gingivalis in Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Porphyromonas gingivalis orchestrates a coordinated manipulation of immune and inflammatory responses in periodontal tissues which leads to the generation of a dysbiotic, subgingival biofilm community, and progression of periodontitis. The type 9 secretion system, lipid A modification, and the formation of outer membrane vesicles are important ...

Genetic, phenotypic, and ecological differentiation indicate a new cryptic and threatened species in the orchid genus Epidendrum from Alcatrazes Island, southeastern Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Epidendrum insularis occurs on the remote Alcatrazes Island in the southeastern Brazilian coast. The description of this new cryptic species was only possible by the joint use of molecular markers, reproductive experiments, flower morphometry, functional traits, and community analysis.

Rapid Translation of the Early Coding Region Promotes Premature Transcription Termination, Reducing Protein Expression in Escherichia coli

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
A run of consecutive fast‐translated codons (right) within the first 30 codons of lacZ (top) causes loss of the downstream transcript at positions coinciding with previously mapped intragenic Rho‐dependent termination sites (middle), and a corresponding loss of β‐galactosidase activity (bottom).

AI foundation models in plant biology

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Foundation models decode genomes, engineer proteins, phenotype crops, and drive AI agents across plant biology. This figure was created in BioRender (BioRender.com/xcmmkel). Summary Rapid technological progress has enabled plant biologists to accumulate unprecedented volumes of multi‐scale, multi‐modal data, yet this abundance of data has intensified ...
