Synchronisation of Extreme Precipitation and Sea Surface Temperature Events in the Northern Hemisphere: A Complex Network Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Using complex network theory and event synchronisation, we find distinct spatiotemporal structures of extreme precipitation and sea surface temperature events across the Northern Hemisphere. Our results show strong local and long‐range connectivity in terrestrial extremes, driven by atmospheric dynamics, contrasting with more localised marine extremes ...

A Continental United States Climatology of Precipitation Whiplash Using a New Event‐Based Definition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Precipitation whiplash events have been increasingly studied over the recent decade, however, no studies have considered the spatial coherence of grid points in their examination. Therefore, we developed an algorithm that defines spatially coherent precipitation whiplash events on the subseasonal‐to‐seasonal timescale between 1915 and 2020 which can be

A Characterisation of Extreme‐Heat Occurrence and Its Trends in Mexico Based on a High Resolution Dataset

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
As Mexico faces rising temperatures and increasing events of extreme heat, improvements in the analysis and characterisation of these phenomena are necessary, as they offer new insights into the spatial variability of such trends and their underlying causes.

Trends and Circulation Conditions of Precipitation Over the Sudeten Mountains (Central Europe) in the Years 1961–2020

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Significant trends of precipitation totals are visible at seasonal (negative in spring and positive in winter) and monthly level. The deepening rainfall deficit in April in Western Sudetes threatens the stabilisation of forest ecosystems, the preservation of biodiversity and significantly limits water resources for economic use.

Mapping the Spatial Scales of Australian Extreme Precipitation Using Daily Rain Gauges

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
We present the first continent‐wide analysis of the spatial scales of daily extreme precipitation events (EPEs) in Australia using station observations and semivariogram analysis. EPEs generally have larger spatial scales at higher latitudes, with strong seasonal and regional differences shaped by topography, meteorological regimes, and climate ...

Let Me Transform You: Introducing Transformative Experiences in Entrepreneurship to Refine Uncertainty

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The relationship between entrepreneurship and uncertainty is ambivalent: while uncertainty creates entrepreneurial opportunities, it simultaneously poses a fundamental challenge. Despite extensive theorizing, conceptual ambiguity persists regarding the locus, origin, and behavioral implications of uncertainty in entrepreneurship.

Cold Atmospheric Plasma Improves the Colonization of Titanium with Primary Human Osteoblasts: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesBiomedicines
Several studies have shown that cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) treatment can favourably modify titanium surfaces to promote osteoblast colonization. The aim of this study was to investigate the initial attachment of primary human osteoblasts to plasma ...

Changing Practices in Axillary Surgery After Neoadjuvant Breast Cancer Therapy: Insights From the EUSOMA European Database

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) after neoadjuvant treatment (NAT) is an increasing option for axillary surgery in patients responding to treatment, whether diagnosed as clinically node‐negative (cN0) or node‐positive (cN + ). This study evaluates SLNB trends in patients with NAT in a large European population.
