Evaluating narrative operative reports for endoscopic sinus surgery in a residency training program
Objective The narrative operative report (NR) bears testimony to critical elements of patient care. Residents’ NRs also provide insights into their comprehension of the procedure. NR documentation is an informal element of surgical residency training but

Hidden Markov Quantile Models With Trends for Analysing Air Temperature Data
There is the question of whether climate change, expressed by time‐trends in temperature, is of a heterogeneous nature or not. Here, the time‐trend heterogeneity argument has been investigated using Hidden Markov (HM) quantile time‐trends models in temperature time series.

Dry–Hot Compound Events Driving the 2024 Pantanal Wildfires
Extreme wildfires in the Pantanal in 2024 were driven by a cascade of heatwaves, rainfall deficits and the absence of the annual flood pulse. These conditions dried soils and rivers, enhanced fuel accumulation and enabled early and intense fire outbreaks.

Observational and numerical studies of the low-level jet stream in the atmosphere [PDF]
Two cases of low-level jet (LLJ) support the hypothesis that the LLJ is an integral part of synoptic-scale cyclogenesis. The appearance of an arch with a row of cumulonimbus is discovered at the front of the LLJ.

Athens' climate according to Thorthwaite is stable despite warming trends. Athens' climate remains semi‐arid and mesothermal over 165 years. Strong increases in evapotranspiration and stable precipitation were found. Soil water storage capacity affects water deficits but not aridity type.

Performance Evaluation of the MPAS Model in Simulating Southeast Asian Rainfall Characteristics
This study evaluates the performance of the Model for Prediction Across Scales–Atmosphere (MPAS) in reproducing key rainfall characteristics over Southeast Asia (SEA) during 2000–2020, using the MSWEP dataset as reference. MPAS realistically captures the observed meridional rainfall gradient, with higher rainfall in the south and lower in the north, as

On the Temporal Variability of Precipitation in Iraq: Arid‐Wet Years and Extreme Events
Daily and monthly precipitation data in Iraq display high seasonal to interdecadal variability, with arid and wet years that have very distinct seasonal cycles. Monthly rainfall is significantly correlated with the Indian Ocean Dipole. Extreme events are identified and classified as belonging to four different weather patterns, allowing to obtain daily
