Syntactic Analysis of the Electroencephalogram

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1979
A method of quantitative electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis, based on concepts drawn from syntactic pattern recognition theories, is described. While retaining many of the quantitative characteristics of traditional EEG analysis methodologies, the system also utilizes the spatiotemporal characteristics of the EEG record in a fashion similar in concept

Systems of syntactic analysis

Journal of Symbolic Logic, 1953
During the past several decades, linguists have developed and applied widely techniques which enable them, to a considerable extent, to determine and state the structure of natural languages without semantic reference. It is of interest to inquire seriously into the formality of linguistic method and the adequacy of whatever part of it can be made ...

The syntactic analysis of arabic by machine

Computers and the Humanities, 1994
This paper describes a computerized system (PANVS) for the syntactic analysis of Arabic sentences. The system parses both nominal and verbal sentences. It is composed of several components including a lexical analyzer, a morphological analyzer, an automatic spelling error corrector and a parser. The parser is based on Definite Clause Grammar formalism.

Syntactic analysis by digital computer

Communications of the ACM, 1962
This paper provides an account of the Shadow language that is used to describe syntax and of a corresponding subroutine that enables a computer to perform syntactic analysis. The input to this subroutine consists of a string to be analyzed and a description of the syntax that is to be used. The syntax is expressed in the Shadow language.

Syntactic analysis of the epileptic electroencephalogram

International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing, 1986
A full-scale scheme of the multi-level syntactic analysis of the epileptic EEG is presented and discussed in detail. An exhaustive description of basic procedures necessary to obtain a meaningful description of any set of epileptic EEG recordings is given; these procedures include algorithms for extraction of various elementary peaks from the EEG ...

On the syntactic analysis of figures

Proceedings of the 1968 23rd ACM national conference on -, 1968
Many investigators have made use of syntactic analysis of figures for pattern recognition purposes during the recent years. Also a general theory of pattern analysis has been formulated recently be Grenander. Most of the earlier investigators concentrated their attention on the problem of line patterns, namely figures which could be composed by thin ...

Syntactic Analysis of Hebrew Sentences

Natural Language Engineering, 1995
AbstractDue to recent developments in the area of computational formalisms for linguistic representation, the task of designing a parser for a specified natural language is now shifted to the problem of designing its grammar in certain formal ways. This paper describes the results of a project whose aim was to design a formal grammar for modern Hebrew.
