Stochastic syntactic analysis for programmed grammars and syntactic pattern recognition

Computer Graphics and Image Processing, 1972
In this paper, some properties of stochastic context-free programmed grammars arepresented. By illustrative examples, the class of stochastic context-free programmed grammars is shown to be quite effective in characterizing the structures of some pictorial patterns.

SYNTACTIC ANALYSIS OF TECHNICAL DRAWING DIMENSIONS

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 1993
We present a syntactic approach to technical drawing dimensions analysis. A specific grammar is used to describe dimensions of drawings. This grammar can be graphically designed by combining different graphic primitives. The algorithm used for analysis can start at different points of the grammar. The analysis proceeds bottom-up and top-down according

Syntactic Analysis of Natural Language

1967
Publisher Summary The methods of syntactic analysis, segment a sentence into parts and these in turn into smaller parts. The chapter discusses the relevance of string analysis for computational purposes. It overcomes the problem of discontinuity in a natural way and provides a framework for introducing further linguistic refinements without adding ...

Bounded context syntactic analysis

Communications of the ACM, 1964
Certain phase structure grammars define languages in which the phrasehood and structure of a substring of a sentence may be determined by consideration of only a bounded context of the substring. It is possible to determine, for any specified bound on the number of contextual characters considered, whether a given grammar is such a

Introduction to Syntactic Analysis

2008
Eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Begriffe der Satzanalyse, gleichzeitig Einführung in die Valenztheorie. Durch die Einbeziehung von Grundgedanken des neuen Ansatzes der Konstruktionsgrammatik auf der Höhe der wissenschaftlichen Diskussion. Das Buch baut Schritt für Schritt einen Beschreibungsapparat auf, der ausgehend von Wortklassen über Phrasen ...

Syntactic analysis of English by computer

Proceedings of the November 12-14, 1963, fall joint computer conference on XX - AFIPS '63 (Fall), 1963
A statement in a spoken language may be regarded as a one-dimensional string of symbols used to communicate an idea from the speaker to a listener. The dimensionality of the statement is limited by the need for presenting words in a single time sequence.

Syntactic reductions for efficient deadlock analysis

Software Testing, Verification and Reliability, 2002
AbstractA well‐known problem in the verification of concurrent systems based on model checking is state explosion: concurrent systems are often represented by automata with a prohibitive number of states. A reduction technique to reduce state explosion in deadlock checking is presented.

Syntactic Models for Image Analysis

1981
Syntactic approach to image analysis is introduced. Problems of primitive selection, image grammars and structure analysis are briefly reviewed. The use of high dimensional languages for image description is described. Analysis of noisy and distorted image patterns using stochastic languages and error-correcting parsing is discussed.

Syntactic analysis of written Polish

2005
The aim of the paper is to give an idea of methodology and of technical solutions used in the design of an experimental syntax-oriented program to process Polish texts; the program is currently being developed by the author. A classification of Polish words is presented. It is based on the notion of syntactic category and it covers in principle most of

Magnasyntax and syntactic analysis

Revue française de linguistique appliquée, 1999
La majorité des théories syntaxiques traitent de l’écrit. Il s’ensuit que les théories de l’acquisition de la langue maternelle, comme la théorie chomskyenne, sont fondées sur ce modèle de l’écrit. Pourtant c’est le langage parlé spontané que l’enfant acquiert en premier ; c’est seulement plus tard que l’enfant apprend l’écrit.
