Reference vegetation for restoration? Three vegetation maps compared across 76 nature reserves in Uganda and Kenya

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract Forest and landscape restoration are increasingly popular nature‐based solutions to mitigate climate change and safeguard biodiversity. Restoration planning and monitoring implies that a reference ecosystem has been defined to which the restored site can be compared, but how to best select such reference?

Phytosociological investigations of steppe and steppe forest vegetation in the south-east part of Central Anatolia of Turkey

open access: yesİstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Dergisi, 2017
To gain a better understanding of the ecological systems, it is necessary to study the development, composition, and classification of the steppe and steppe forest communities, which are the primary components of phytocoenoses in semi-arid environments.

Drivers of vascular plant, bryophyte and lichen richness in grasslands along a precipitation gradient (central Apennines, Italy)

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 35, Issue 5, September/October 2024.
The sampled grasslands were very species‐rich (up to 85 species in 10 m2). Mean annual precipitation had no significant effect on vascular plant richness, which was mostly predicted (with a negative relationship) by topographic heat load and soil sand content.
