An Automated Data Efficient Morphometric Approach to Define Global Lentic and Lotic Inland Waters

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Defining lentic and lotic system types is critical for understanding hydrological, ecological, and biochemical processes. Traditional classification methods rely on non‐generalizable site‐specific parameters such as visual characteristics, historical inventory, and residence time.

SAR and Optical Data Comparison for Detecting Co-Seismic Slip and Induced Phenomena during the 2018 Mw 7.5 Sulawesi Earthquake

open access: yesSensors, 2019
We use both Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical data to constrain the co-seismic ground deformation produced by the 2018 Mw 7.5 Sulawesi earthquake. We exploit data processing techniques mainly based on pixel cross-correlation approach, applied to

Radar shadow detection in SAR images using DEM and projections

open access: yes, 2013
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are widely used in target recognition tasks nowadays. In this letter, we propose an automatic approach for radar shadow detection and extraction from SAR images utilizing geometric projections along with the digital ...

SAR moving target imaging in a sparsity-driven framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging, sparsity-driven imaging techniques have been shown to provide high resolution images with reduced sidelobes and reduced speckle, by allowing the incorporation of prior information about the scene into the ...

InSAR Ground Deformation and Pumping Energy Consumption Reveal Urban Water Security

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Water resource assessments are critical for ensuring water security (WS), particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions with increasing water demand and limited water monitoring capabilities. Earth observations and indirect indicators of surface and groundwater changes are valuable tools for developing such assessments.

Spectrally Compatible Deceptive Jamming Waveform Design for Synthetic Aperture Radar Countermeasures

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper focuses on the design of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) deceptive jamming waveforms with spectrum‐compatible capability. By using the synthesised jamming waveform, successful deception against the hostile SAR system is demonstrated by generating false targets with high fidelity in both range and azimuth.
