The ecology and toxicology of synthetic organic pigments
Chemosphere, 1980Abstract Current knowledge of the ecological and toxicological properties of synthetic organic pigments is reviewed. Presumably because of their generally low solubility pigments exhibit little biological activity, especially in terms of acute toxicity.

Synthetic Ecologies: Design and the Ecological Imagination
2021The present historical condition has been characterized by the impasse between two seemingly opposing narratives, one of modernization, mastery, and progress (usually associated to economic growth), and another of interdependence, precaution, and balance (usually associated to ecological integrity).

Theoretical Foundations of an Ecological Synthetic Vision Display
AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference, 2009This paper presents the conceptual design of an ecological Synthetic Vision Display. It is hypothesized to promote pilot terrain awareness and support decision-making by means of functional overlays that show pilots how their maneuvering possibilities are constrained by their own aircraft performance and surrounding terrain.

Shaping ecological risk research for synthetic biology
Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences, 2014Synthetic biology is an interdisciplinary field that brings together biology and engineering at its core. Understanding and evaluating the ecological effects of synthetic biology applications also require broad interdisciplinary convergence and the ability to adapt to rapid technological developments.

Experimental Evaluation of an Ecological Synthetic Vision Display
AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference, 2009Recent studies in interface-mediated situation awareness claim that an ecological approach to interface design can be a good foundation to support successful decision-making, even in unanticipated situations. It is also claimed to serve well as a teaching tool that can promote a deeper understanding of the work domain dynamics.
