Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Mineral oil (MO) has long been the standard insulating fluid for power transformers. However, its low fire safety performance has driven growing interest in alternative fluids such as natural ester (NE), synthetic ester (SE), and gas-to-liquid (GTL) oils.

1-alkoxyvinyl esters as synthetic intermediates [PDF]
The chemistry and properties of 1-alkoxyvinyl esters and of cyclopropanones are reviewed. \ud A number of 1-ethoxyvinyl esters have been isolated, both for their intrinsic interest and also because of their value as synthetic intermediates. \ud Phthaloyl and 4-nitrophthaloyl derivatives of amino-acid esters have been prepared by reaction of phthalic ...

Ester-Based Synthetic Information Oligomers
Nature has long inspired chemists to replicate the molecules produced by evolution. Arguably, the most important of these are the nucleic acids because of the ability to store and transfer information through duplex formation using Watson-Crick base pairing. Biochemists have prepared modified DNA analogues, in which the phosphate diester units used for

Anti-Picornavirus Activity of Synthetic Flavon-3-yl Esters
The in vitro antiviral activity against picornaviruses (rhinovirus serotype 1B and 14, and poliovirus type 2) of new synthetic 3-hydroxyflavones, 3-acetoxyflavones, and substituted cinnamic and benzoic acid flavon-3-yl esters was evaluated. The maximum non-toxic concentration of compounds was determined in a human cell line (HeLa) suitable for the ...

Mechanochromism of Glassy Polymers Enabled by a Loop‐Forming Supramolecular Mechanophore
The supramolecular mechanophore LOOP is covalently introduced into glassy polymers, capable of reporting force‐induced pre‐failure damage and local fracture events in polymer glasses. Under different mechanical deformation modes, including grinding, tensile stretching, and scratching, LOOP probes irreversible events in polymer glasses through a ...

Female-induced increase of host-plant volatiles enhance specific attraction of aphid male Dysaphis plantaginea (Homoptera: Aphididae) to the sex pheromone [PDF]
All aphid species studied so far share the same sex pheromone components, nepetalactol and nepetalactone. Variation by different enantiomers and blends of the two components released by different aphid species are limited and can only partially explain ...
