Farmers' Preferences for Fossil‐Free Mineral Nitrogen Fertilizers: Role of Prices, Climate, Production Origin, and Identity

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disruptions in global fertilizer markets and climate targets have increased interest in fossil‐free mineral nitrogen fertilizers. This study examines farmers' preferences for conventional (fossil‐based) and fossil‐free fertilizers using a labeled discrete choice experiment with 211 Swedish farmers.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth Following Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery: Current Evidence and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) has recently gained increasing attention as a potential cause of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms following gastrointestinal cancer surgery. Surgical procedures can disrupt normal gastrointestinal physiology through anatomical reconstruction, impaired motility, reduced gastric acid secretion,

Site‐Specific Molecular Engineering Redirects Radical Pathways for Selective Photocatalytic Coupling of Methane to C2+ Hydrocarbons

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Site‐specific self‐assembly of alkyl thiols on Au/TiO2 enables precise modulation of interfacial electron distribution and the local microenvironment through covalent Au‐thiolate interactions. This site‐specific molecular engineering synergistically promotes surface kinetics and charge separation, suppressing ·O2−‐driven overoxidation and thereby ...

Methane emission and consumption at a Noth Sea gas seep (Tommeliten area) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Tommeliten seepage area is part of the Greater Ekofisk area, which is situated above the Tommeliten Delta salt diapir in the central North Sea (56°29.90' N, 2°59.80' E, Norwegian Block 1/9, 75 m water depth).

How small changes to methylated piperidinium cations impact the synthesis of zeolite SSZ‐39

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Here we report a synthesis study of SSZ‐39 with four different organic structure directing agents (OSDA). The goal was to determine how subtle changes to the OSDA architecture impact crystallization kinetics, material composition, and other properties.

1,2‐Bis(boronate) Arenes by Borylation Directed Borylation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Boron electrophiles derived from tetrabromo‐pyrazaboles and AlCl3 affect the regioselective vicinal double C–H borylation of a range of arenes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). A subsequent pinacol installation step then affords the vicinal bis‐boronate ester‐substituted arene/PAH.

Machine learning–driven design of catalytic processes for sulfur dioxide oxidation: Lessons from the trenches

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite the growing use of ML in chemical engineering, the catalytic conversion of sulfur dioxide (SO2) to sulfur trioxide (SO3) remains underexplored from a data‐driven modeling perspective. This study evaluates an integrated workflow for literature‐derived SO2 oxidation data, combining data curation, preprocessing assessment, machine ...

Biosynthesis of bromoform by Curvularia fungi provides a natural pathway to mitigate enteric methane emissions from ruminants

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports
The ruminant livestock industry is the largest agricultural emissions source of anthropogenic greenhouse gases, primarily from enteric methane. Several technologies, both natural and synthetic are being investigated to mitigate enteric methane emissions.
