Metal Immobilization in Soils Using Synthetic Zeolites

Journal of Environmental Quality, 2002
ABSTRACTIn situ immobilization of heavy metals in contaminated soils is a technique to improve soil quality. Synthetic zeolites are potentially useful additives to bind heavy metals. This study selected the most effective zeolite in cadmium and zinc binding out of six synthetic zeolites (mordenite‐type, faujasite‐type, zeolite X, zeolite P, and two ...

Cation Sites in Synthetic Zeolites

Nature, 1965
SYNTHETIC zeolites1, especially those with the same structure as natural faujasite, have recently come into prominence as industrial catalysts. Pickert, Rabo, Dempsey, Schomaker and references2 have convincingly demonstrated the importance of the positions of the exchangeable cations which compensate for the effective negative charge of aluminium atoms

Infrared spectra of synthetic zeolites

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1972
1. The spectra of some synthetic zeolites (X, Y, A, erionite and mordenite) were studied and an assignment of the absorption bands was made. 2. The character of the IR spectrum is sensitive to the type of zeolite and the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio. Some new data were obtained, which testify to the existence of characteristic “chainlet” vibrations.

Transformation of 1-Butene over Synthetic Zeolites

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1992
The behaviour of several zeolites as catalysts for the title reaction has been investigated by means of a continuous flow microreactor. Runs performed at atmospheric pressure indicated that at 423 K the completely protonic forms of the zeolites catalyze just the isomerization reaction.

Isomerisation of 1-methylnaphthalene over synthetic zeolites

Applied Catalysis, 1984
Abstract Activity and durability of variously decationated Ω,X,Y and ZSM5 zeolite catalysts in promoting the title reaction were compared at 210–330°C and in presence of hydrogen. The best results (equilibrium conversion and over 95% selectivity to 2-methyl-naphthalene) were obtained with HNaY, at ca.50% decationation degree.
