Current Serodiagnosis and Treatment of Syphilis [PDF]
In recent years there has been a resurgence of syphilis in the United States. 1 Reported cases of primary and secondary syphilis rose from a low of 6,399 in 1956 to 22,969 in 1964, with nearly half of the recent cases occurring in teen-agers and young adults.

The fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption (FTA-ABS) test is as specific as, and much more sensitive than, the Treponema pallidum immobilization test. The FTA-ABS test may detect syphilis earlier than the venereal disease research laboratories test for syphilis (VDRL), and it will rule out biologic false reactors with a high degree of accuracy. The

ABSTRACT It is my essential purpose to present the results of the analysis of 2,406 blood serums by the complement fixation test, using either Wassermann's or my own method of doing the test. Herewith are given six tables, giving in detail the results of the analysis and of a comparative study of 244 cases of known syphilitic or parasyphilitic ...
