Aspects of linguistic thought in the Syriac exegetical tradition

Reconstruction of some significant lines of the Syriac self-reflection on language culled from East Syrian exegetical sources: the history of Syriac linguistic thought, particularly on semantic issues, seems closer to such thinking in a Jewish/Hebrew context than to the rhetorical and logical thought in e.g. the Greek, Sanskrit or Arabic traditions.

Maronite contributions to Syriac and Arabic linguistics (16th–18th centuries)

This entry is devoted to the grammars of Syriac and Arabic written in the West in Latin by Maronite authors, between 16th and 18th cent. Different typologies of works are examined (shorter alphabeta and more articulated grammars), taking into account the different models and sources that were available to Maronite authors.
