Aspects of linguistic thought in the Syriac exegetical tradition
2015Reconstruction of some significant lines of the Syriac self-reflection on language culled from East Syrian exegetical sources: the history of Syriac linguistic thought, particularly on semantic issues, seems closer to such thinking in a Jewish/Hebrew context than to the rhetorical and logical thought in e.g. the Greek, Sanskrit or Arabic traditions.
