Maintenance resources optimization applied to a manufacturing system
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2006This paper presents an availability optimization of an engineering system assembled in a series configuration, with redundancy of units and corrective maintenance resources as optimization parameters. The aim is to reach maximum availability, considering as constraints installation and corrective maintenance costs, weight and volume.

On the evolution of an intelligent maintenance optimization system
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 2004Summary: In this paper the author reviews the development of an intelligent maintenance optimization system over the past 16 years. The paper starts with discussion of the initial motivation behind developing the system and the designs of the early versions of a computer program to access maintenance history data and provide an analysis.

Optimal Maintenance Policies for a System With Multiechelon Risks
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics - Part A: Systems and Humans, 2008Aged fossil-fired power plants are on the great increase in Japan, and the importance of preventive maintenance (PM) increases for their steady operations. A plant consists of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical components. Various kinds of severe failures inherent in these components and their occurrence probabilities are different.

Optimizing preventive maintenance: a deteriorating system with buffers
Industrial Management & Data Systems, 2016Purpose Making decisions on preventive maintenance (PM) policy and buffer sizing, as is often studied, may not result in overall optimization. The purpose of this paper is to propose a joint model that integrates PM and buffer sizing with consideration of quality loss for a degenerating system, which aims to minimize the average operation cost for a ...

Maintenance Optimization for Asset Systems with Dependent Performance Degradation
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2013This paper presents a model for optimizing maintenance plans for an industrial system consisting of a number of assets with degradation and performance interaction between them. In particular, we consider an asset system with M identical non-critical machines feeding their output to a critical machine.

Optimal Structures and Maintenance Policies for PABX Power Systems
Operations Research, 1979A power system for a private automatic branch exchange (PABX) consists of n independent and identical rectifiers hooked up in parallel. The lifetime of each component is an exponential random variable with a known mean (MTBF). The system fails when the number of operating rectifiers is less than m(m ≤ n).

OPTIMAL MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A SYSTEM WITH BACKUP COMPONENTS
Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2002We consider a system with heterogeneous unreliable components that requires only one component to be turned on in order for it to operate. Repair workers may have different skills and may be unavailable for random periods of time. The problem is to determine a usage and repair policy to maximize system availability.

Maintenance optimization for marine mechanical systems
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part M: Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment, 2019This article proposes a stochastic technique for determining the optimal maintenance policy for marine mechanical systems. The optimal maintenance policy output includes the average maintenance cost rate, maintenance interval and the performance thresholds for the three marine mechanical system classifications.

Optimal Maintenance Time for Repairable Systems
Journal of Quality Technology, 2007The maintenance strategy of a repairable system calls for preventative repair actions at regularly scheduled times and minimal repair actions whenever failure occurs. When failures do occur, they are modeled on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process called th..
