Maintenance optimization in failure-prone systems under imperfect preventive maintenance
Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2018In the majority of the existing preventive optimization models only costs related to maintenance actions are accounted for, while breakdown and operational costs are usually ignored. Liao et al. (J Intell Manuf 21(6):875–884, 2010) proposed a preventive maintenance model to deal with this shortcoming.

Optimal Control of a Maintenance System with Variable Service Rates
Operations Research, 1974This paper examines a production system with variable repair-service rates. Considering costs dependent on the service rates and costs due to lost production, it seeks to minimize the long-run expected average cost of the system. The model is a continuous-time Markovian decision problem.

Optimal maintenance of stochastically deteriorating systems
International Journal of Systems Science, 1991A machine maintenance problem were the deterioration of the machine is subject to additive random noise is considered. The objective is then to maximize the discounted net return of the machine. Furthermore, it is also required that the machine maintains a sufficiently good quality state with certain degrees of confidence in part or whole of the ...

Optimal maintenance models for systems subject to failure–A Review
Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1981AbstractThis paper is a state‐of‐the‐art review of the literature related to optimal maintenance models of systems subject to failure. The emphasis is on work appearing since the 1976 survey, “A Survey of Maintenance Models: The Control and Surveillance of Deteriorating Systems,” by W.P. Pierskalla and J.A. Voelker, published in this journal.

A Computer Algorithm for Optimal Maintenance of Standby Redundant Systems
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1981A class of standby redundant systems with exponential failure-time and repair-time distributions is considered. There are several alternatives available in each state (up or down) to maintain the system. A computer algorithm is developed to obtain the maintenance policy that maximises s-expected profit of a standby redundant system.

Optimal design of an integrated maintenance policy-maintenance force system
International Journal of Systems Science, 1975Abstract An integrated model has been built in which the rate of arrival of machines requiring service and the required maintenance force depend on the maintenance policy, and the maintenance policy depends on the cost of the maintenance service which in turn is the result of the given maintenance force.

The Optimality of Preventive Maintenance in a Complex System
1977For a complex system with one renewal and one readjustment subsystem conditions for the existence of an age-dependent preventive replacement and readjustment policy are given for increasing failure rate as well as for constant failure rate. This policy optimizes either the arising costs or profits per unit time or the system’s efficiency over an ...
