Innovative application of a traffic-prediction spatio-temporal graph convolutional network for dengue disease forecasting

open access: yesScientific Reports
Dengue fever, a vector-borne disease, is a major public health challenge. Accurate prediction methods that can better reflect the complexity of the outbreak are essential for dengue prediction and vector control.

Physical modelling of degassing process by blowing of inert gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper deals with the possibilities of using physical modelling to study the degassing of metal melt during its treatment in the refining ladle. The method of inert gas blowing, so-called refining gas, presents the most common operational technology ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

A Semi-empirical Approach Based on Genetic Programming for the Study of Biophysical Controls on Diameter-Growth of Fagus orientalis in Northern Iran

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
This paper examines the possible ecological controls on the diameter increment of oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) in a high altitude forest in northern Iran. The main objectives of the study are computer-generated abiotic surfaces and associated

A dynamic modelling environment for the evaluation of wide area protection systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper introduces the concept of dynamic modelling for wide area and adaptive power system protection. Although not limited to these types of protection schemes, these were chosen due to their potential role in solving a multitude of protection ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Nonlinear Modeling and Verification of a Heaving Point Absorber for Wave Energy Conversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Although the heaving Point Absorber (PA) concept is well known in wave energy conversion research, few studies focus on appropriate modelling of non-linear fluid viscous and mechanical friction dynamics.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
