Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Clinically Node‐Negative Merkel Cell Carcinoma: An Update of the Westmead Hospital Experience

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive cutaneous neuroendocrine malignancy with a high risk of nodal metastasis. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is used to stage clinically node‐negative disease and to guide adjuvant therapy decisions.

A successful case of a para-aortic lymphocele treated with autologous peripheral blood injection

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2017
A lymphocele is one of the complications of systematic pelvic or para-aortic lymphadenectomy. Although most patients are entirely asymptomatic, our patient exhibited an obstructive ileus at the jejunum compressed by a lymphocele. We report here a case of

The accuracy of integrated [ 18 F] fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography in detection of pelvic and para-aortic nodal metastasis in patients with high risk endometrial cancer

open access: yesWorld Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 2014
Lymph nodal (LN) metastasis is the most important prognostic factor in high-risk endometrial cancer. However, the benefit of routine lymphadenectomy in endometrial cancer is controversial.

Pathophysiology of Delayed Gastric Conduit Emptying After Oesophagectomy: A Multicentre Cohort Study

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicentre study of 272 patients, early and late delayed gastric conduit emptying after oesophagectomy emerged as distinct phenotypes. Early DGCE was predicted by open surgery, whereas late DGCE was predicted by GOJ tumour location and postoperative complications.

A luminal non‐coding RNA‐based genomic classifier confirms favourable outcomes in patients with clinically organ‐confined bladder cancer treated with radical cystectomy

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 135, Issue 4, Page 648-656, April 2025.
Objective To further evaluate a genomic classifier (GC) in a cohort of patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC), as long non‐coding RNA (lncRNA)‐based genomic profiling has suggested utility in identifying a distinct tumour subgroup corresponding to a favourable prognosis in patients with bladder cancer.

Evaluation of the sentinel lymph node in breast cancer. A tangible feat. [PDF]

open access: yesBatna Journal of Medical Sciences
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed and deadliest cancer in women. Since the dominant route of its spread is lymphatic, assessment of lymph node status is one of the most important prognostic factors.
