The Impact of Pazopanib on the Cardiovascular System [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2018
Pazopanib is an approved treatment for renal cell carcinoma and a second-line treatment for nonadipocytic soft-tissue sarcoma. However, its clinical efficacy is limited by its cardiovascular side effects. Pazopanib and other vascular endothelial growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been associated with the development of hypertension,

The Impact of the Apelinergic System on the Cardiovascular System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
The apelin–ELABELA–APJ axis, collectively known as the apelinergic system, has emerged as a key regulator of cardiovascular homeostasis. Acting through G-protein-coupled mechanisms, it modulates vascular tone, cardiac contractility, angiogenesis, fluid balance, and metabolism.

Planting area and production decreased for winter-triticeae crops but increased for rapeseed in Ukraine with climatic impacts dominating

open access: yesGeography and Sustainability
On-time mapping dynamics of crop area, yield, and production is important for global food security. Such information, however, is often not available. Here, we used satellite information, a spectral-phenology integration approach for mapping crop area ...

Health‐Related Quality of Life and Symptom Severity Among Patients With PIK3CA‐Related Overgrowth Spectrum: A Mixed‐Methods Study to Understand Real‐World Experience With Alpelisib Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background PIK3CA‐related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) includes several rare overgrowth disorders resulting from somatic gain‐of‐function mutations in PIK3CA. Despite treatment advances, including the recent approval of alpelisib for PROS in the United States, literature detailing the patient experience with PROS is limited.

Managing the Systemic Impact of Periodontitis

open access: yesMedicina, 2022
Periodontitis is a microbially driven host-mediated disease that leads to loss of periodontal attachment and bone. It is associated with elevation of systemic inflammatory markers and with the presence of systemic co-morbidities. Furthermore, periodontal treatment leads to a 24–48 h-long acute local and systemic inflammatory response.

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...
