Can the systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) predict the severity of coronary artery disease?

open access: yesNorthwestern Medical Journal
Aim: To examine the relationship between complete blood count metrics and the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients undergoing coronary angiography.

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of SOX1 Antibody‐Associated Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes: A Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background SOX1 antibody‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) exhibit significant population‐specific clinical heterogeneity. While Western cohorts predominantly manifest Lambert‐Eaton myasthenic syndrome (65%–80%), comprehensive clinical characterization and treatment response data in Asian populations remain critically ...

Screening significance of systemic immune‐inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in coronary heart disease of symptomatic youth

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease
Background The incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) in youth is rapidly increasing but difficultly recognized in the early stage. Methods and Results In this retrospective study, 194 CHD patients under the age of 45 who previously experienced chest ...

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

Sedentary behavior is associated with systemic immune-inflammation index and systemic inflammation response index levels: a cross-sectional analysis of the NHANES 2011–2018

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundSedentary behavior (SB), has been closely linked to numerous detrimental health effects. While the individual and combined impacts of such behaviors on immune-inflammatory responses remain ambiguous, innovative indices like the Systemic Immune ...

Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

Air Pollution and the Risk and Progression of Multiple Sclerosis: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Air pollution has been linked to several neurological conditions, including stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. Evidence regarding its association with multiple sclerosis (MS) remains conflicting, limited by small sample sizes. Methods PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane controlled register of trials (CENTRAL) were searched on ...

Association between systemic immune-inflammatory index and systemic inflammatory response index with body mass index in children and adolescents: a population-based study based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017-2020

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundThe Systemic Immune-Inflammatory Index (SII) and Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI) are novel composite inflammatory markers. Previous studies suggest that obesity in individuals correlates with persistently low levels of chronic ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.
