Systemic Organ Involvement and Retinoid Signaling Disorder in COVID-19

open access: yes, 2022
Although more than a year has passed since the COVID-19 outbreak, the pathogenesis of the disease has not yet been clearly explained. The way to develop effective vaccines and drugs against the disease depends on a clear elucidation of the pathogenesis ...

Phloem-Mobile MYB44 Negatively Regulates Expression of PHOSPHATE TRANSPORTER 1 in Arabidopsis Roots

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Phosphorus (P) is an essential plant macronutrient; however, its availability is often limited in soils. Plants have evolved complex mechanisms for efficient phosphate (Pi) absorption, which are responsive to changes in external and internal Pi ...

The Role of Sphingolipids and Sphingosine-1-phosphate-Sphingosine-1-phosphate-receptor Signaling in Psoriasis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Psoriasis is a long-lasting skin condition characterized by redness and thick silver scales on the skins surface. It involves various skin cells, including keratinocytes, dendritic cells, T lymphocytes, and neutrophils. The treatments for psoriasis range

Purinergic signalling in systemic sclerosis

open access: yesRheumatology, 2021
Abstract SSc is a chronic autoimmune rheumatic disease that involves numerous organs and presents major management challenges. The histopathologic hallmarks of SSc include vasculopathy, fibrosis and autoimmune phenomena involving both innate and adaptive immune systems.

Compression System for the Phonocardiographic Signal [PDF]

open access: yes2007 International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and Applications, 2007
An FPGA-based approach is proposed for implementing a compression system developed specifically for the signal of phonocardiogram. The compression method offers better rate and distorsion than standard audio compression techniques. Both the algorithm and the details on the solutions adopted for its implementation are presented in this paper.

The Signals And Systems Concept Inventory [PDF]

open access: yes2002 Annual Conference Proceedings, 2005
The signal processing community needs quantitative standardized tools to assess student learning in order to improve teaching methods and satisfy accreditation requirements. The Signals and Systems Concept Inventory (SSCI) is a 25-question multiple-choice exam designed to measure students' understanding of fundamental concepts taught in standard ...

Alternaria Brassicae Induces Systemic Jasmonate Responses in Arabidopsis Which Travel to Neighboring Plants via a Piriformsopora Indica Hyphal Network and Activate Abscisic Acid Responses

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Stress information received by a particular local plant tissue is transferred to other tissues and neighboring plants, but how the information travels is not well understood.

The Ubiquitin System and Jasmonate Signaling [PDF]

open access: yesPlants, 2016
The ubiquitin (Ub) system is involved in most, if not all, biological processes in eukaryotes. The major specificity determinants of this system are the E3 ligases, which bind and ubiquitinate specific sets of proteins and are thereby responsible for target recruitment to the proteasome or other cellular processing machineries.

Identification of novel genetic markers associated with clinical phenotypes of systemic sclerosis through a genome-wide association strategy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to determine, through a genome-wide association study (GWAS), the genetic components contributing to different clinical sub-phenotypes of systemic sclerosis (SSc).

Mature B cells and mesenchymal stem cells control emergency myelopoiesis

open access: yesLife Science Alliance, 2023
Mature B cells control lymphotoxin-beta receptor signaling in mesenchymal stem cells to promote emergency myelopoiesis. Systemic inflammation halts lymphopoiesis and prioritizes myeloid cell production. How blood cell production switches from homeostasis
