Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Anticancer sensitivities and biological characteristics of HCT116 cells resistant to the selective poly(ADP‐ribose) glycohydrolase inhibitor

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed alterations of PAR metabolism‐related proteins in PARG inhibitor‐resistant HCT116RPDD cells. Although PARG levels remained unchanged, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited reduced PARP1 and ARH3 expression and elevated PAR levels. Interestingly, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited slightly elevated intracellular NAD+/NADH and ATP levels. Our findings suggest a

The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...

Agile Systems Engineering

ATZelectronics worldwide, 2021
There is no software without systems engineering. Software is always part of a bigger system. Even a simple application interacting with a human user consists of software building blocks, a service delivery, various hardware systems, user experience, energy management, connectivity and many more.

Process Systems Engineering

2022
Process systems engineering (PSE) is a discipline that delivers tools for guided decision-making in the development of new processes and products. Proven successful in the pharmaceutical-, food- and water sectors, it has also breached the field of energy systems. The future energy systems aim to be more efficient, cost-effective, environmentally benign,

Layered Systems Engineering Engines

AIAA Infotech@Aerospace Conference, 2009
A notation is described for depicting the relationships between multiple, contemporaneous systems engineering efforts undertaken within a multi-layer system-of-systems hierarchy. We combined the concepts of remoteness of activity from the end customer, depiction of activity on a timeline, and data flow to create a new kind of diagram which we call a ...
