A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

SCIENCE AND THE SYSTEMS PARADIGM†

International Journal of General Systems, 1976
We live in a largely artificial world, one made by man as a result of the most powerful activity man has discovered: the activity of science. The intellectual and practical adventure which began in Western Europe in the 16th and 17th Centuries with Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, has made our world.

Mainstreaming Systems Science

Science, 2012
In his Essay “Systems science for policy evaluation” (15 June, p. [1398][1]), P. Kabat argued that we need to use systems science to inform better public policy. We agree completely. But why don't more sustainability scientists actively advocate and practice systems science?

A science of system security

53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014
As the internet becomes the information-technology backbone for more and more operations, including critical infrastructures such as water and power systems, the security problems introduced by linking such operations to the internet become more of a concern.

Path Analysis in Systems Science

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1974
Summary: Typical areas with which systems science is concerned, such as biological, behavioral, and social processes, transportation, urban and environmental studies, involve the development of mathematical models of the underlying processes. In general, the observed data of the variables associated with these processes provide the statistical ...

Earth System Science

Science, 2001
O ne of the great scientific challenges of the 21st century is to forecast the future of planet Earth. As human activities push atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane concentrations far beyond anything seen for nearly half a million years (prompting the strongest statement yet from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that human ...
