Right ventricular dysfunction for prediction of long‐term recovery in de novo HFrEF : a PROLONG‐II substudy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 2166-2176, June 2025.
Abstract Aims To analyse the predictive value of advanced markers of right ventricular (RV) function and RV‐pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling in forecasting long‐term left ventricular (LV) improvement in de novo heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Cardiac magnetic resonance left atrioventricular coupling index as a prognostic tool in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 2177-2189, June 2025.
Abstract Aims A novel marker left atrioventricular coupling index (LACI) has been proved to be associated with cardiovascular events in patients without history of cardiovascular disease. However, the studies on cardiac magnetic resonance‐derived LACI in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients are limited, and the prognostic value of LACI has still ...

Global myocardial work index predicts response to biventricular pacing in patients with non‐left bundle branch block

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 2210-2224, June 2025.
Abstract Aims Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) improves the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF) and wide QRS complex. However, patients with non‐left bundle branch block (LBBB) show a poor response to CRT. This study evaluated myocardial work estimated by pressure–strain loops on echocardiography for predicting response to CRT in ...

Transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair of atrial secondary mitral regurgitation positively influences atrial remodelling

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 2267-2277, June 2025.
Abstract Background Atrial secondary mitral valve regurgitation (ASMR) is a distinct anatomical subset of secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR). Evidence of the effect of transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair (TEER) on left atrial (LA) anatomy and function, especially reverse remodelling (LARR), is still sparse.

Fetal Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance: History, Current Status, and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 61, Issue 6, Page 2357-2375, June 2025.
Fetal cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has emerged as a complementary modality for prenatal imaging in suspected congenital heart disease. Ongoing technical improvements extend the potential clinical value of fetal cardiovascular MRI.

Free‐Breathing Ungated Radial Simultaneous Multi‐Slice Cardiac T1 Mapping

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 61, Issue 6, Page 2587-2600, June 2025.
Background Modified Look‐Locker imaging (MOLLI) T1 mapping sequences are acquired during breath‐holding and require ECG gating with consistent R‐R intervals, which is problematic for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Consequently, there is a need for a free‐breathing and ungated framework for cardiac T1 mapping.

Reduced sensory attenuation is related to aberrant interoceptive influences on intentional binding in schizophrenia

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
We observed group differences in the level of sensory attenuation and the intentional binding effect, including the cardiac effect, as well as the association between them. These findings suggest a failure of interoceptive attenuation in schizophrenia.

Standard and advanced echocardiographic study of patients with Paget's disease of bone: Evidence of a pagetic heart disease?

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 297, Issue 6, Page 630-641, June 2025.
Abstract Background Paget's disease of the bone (PDB) is a metabolic bone disorder involving one or more skeletal sites. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been described in patients with PDB but have not been systematically analysed. Objectives This study aimed to compare standard and advanced (speckle‐tracking) echocardiographic parameters measured ...
