Is nurse-measured blood pressure a valid substitute for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring?

open access: yes, 2000
BACKGROUND: Because ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is not available everywhere, the objective of the study was to determine whether nurse-measured blood pressure could be an acceptable substitute to ABPM.

Central aortic systolic blood pressure can predict prolonged QTc duration better than brachial artery systolic blood pressure in rural community residents

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2018
Objectives: Previous studies have suggested that prolonged electrocardiogram QTc duration was independent risk factor for both increased cardiovascular and all-cause mortality, but there was no dating about the relationship between central aortic ...

Initial Stay Time and Work‐Rest Scheduling During Consecutive Heavy‐Intensity Workdays in Hot Environments in Young and Older Males

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study examined initial stay times (IST), defined as the duration of uninterrupted work before core temperature approaches recommended safety limits (38.0°C, ~1.0°C above baseline), and the efficacy of work‐rest cycles during repeated heavy work across consecutive workdays in young and older males.

Immune Modulatory Therapy for Severe Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in a Patient With Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency: A Case Report

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dengue virus (DENV) poses a serious global health challenge, particularly in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Patients with preexisting mitochondrial disorders may be at increased risk for complications due to the specific impact of DENV on mitochondrial‐dependent cellular processes and immune function.

1,2‐propanediol reformulation improves tribromoethanol safety and reveals pontine GABRA1 enrichment as a candidate mechanistic correlate of anesthesia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study develops a reformulated tribromoethanol (TBE) anesthetic using 1,2‐propanediol as a solvent to overcome solvent‐related toxicity. The novel formulation demonstrates, cardiovascular stability, and survival in prolonged protocols. It provides potent, dose‐dependent anesthesia without strain or sex differences.

Aortic systolic pressure derived with different calibration methods

open access: yes, 2018
Background There is increasing evidence that the method of calibration directly influences the association between brachial systolic blood pressure (bSBP) and estimated aortic systolic blood pressure (aSBP) and subsequently affects prognostic and ...
