Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Mitigating roll response of high-speed catamarans by dual Demihull mounted T-Foils, Part 1: Design and validation in calm water open-loop tests

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Efficient roll motion mitigation is essential for ensuring the structural integrity and passenger comfort of high-speed catamarans in oblique seas. Ride Control Systems (RCSs) used by Incat Tasmania wave-piercing catamarans (WPCs) typically consist of a ...

Static hydroelastic study of composite T-foils with beam and lifting line models

open access: yesInternational Marine Design Conference
Well-designed hydrofoils improve ship resistance and seakeeping by lifting the hull above the water. With greater speeds come greater loads, and the two-way interaction of structural deflections of lifting surfaces on the hydrodynamics must be considered.

Back-illuminated dye sensitized solar cell flexible photoanode on titanium foil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper reports the preparation and performance analysis on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) using titanium (Ti) foil as flexible photoanode for back-illuminated measurement. Performance differences were also carried with the fluorine-doped tin oxide

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

PENGARUH JENIS KEMASAN DAN LAMA SIMPAN DALAM RUANG BERSUHU KAMAR PADA VIABILITAS BENIH BUNCIS (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

open access: yesJurnal Agrotropika
During storage, bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) will continue to experience viability decline. One effort to slow down the rate of decline is the use of appropriate packaging materials.

Hume on pleasure and value and the Kantian challenge

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2018
In this paper I examine Hume’s claims about the nature of moral sentiments (mainly in T 3.1.2) using as a foil the Kantian challenge to all material practical principles: they are all of the same type, being based on self-love and making all choices ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
