T Lymphocyte Subsets in Leprosy

International Journal of Dermatology, 1989
ABSTRACTPhenotypic analysis was done on 24 Egyptian leprosy patients and 11 healthy controls. The type of leprosy, duration of disease at the time of testing, and age were found to affect T cell subset distribution. As compared with controls, neural leprosy tended to have a decreased total T cell percentage, borderline leprosy an increased T suppressor

T-Lymphocyte Subsets and Schizophrenia

1987
Viruses have long been sought as possible etiologic agents in several neurological and psychiatric disorders of unknown etiology such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Zil’ber et al., 1963), multiple sclerosis (Marie, 1884), Parkinson’s disease (von Economo, 1931; Marttila et al., 1981), and schizophrenia (Menninger, 1922).

Abnormalities of T-lymphocyte subsets in epileptic patients

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
This study concerns the distribution of T-cell subsets as determined by specific monoclonal antibodies in 50 individuals with complex partial seizures (31) and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (19), and in 30 healthy controls. The epileptic group had significantly fewer circulating T4 "helper" lymphocytes and significantly greater number of T8

T-lymphocyte-subsets in endocrine exophthalmos.

Metabolic, pediatric, and systemic ophthalmology (New York, N.Y. : 1985), 1985
Peripheral T-Lymphocyte subsets were analyzed with monolateral antibodies in 40 patients with Graves' ophthalmopathy. The 20 patients with untreated hyperthyroid exophthalmos showed a slight statistically not significant decrease in the percentage of total T-Lymphocytes and a statistically significant decrease with percentage of the OK T8 cells.

INFLUENCE OF PROGESTOGEN THERAPY ON T LYMPHOCYTE SUBSETS

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Series C: Immunology, 2009
The distribution of T lymphocyte subsets was determined in 22 patients with endometrial carcinoma stage 1. Following surgery and postoperative radiotherapy the patients had been "randomized" into two groups: group A patients received no further treatment, whereas group B patients were treated with 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate for one year.

T-lymphocyte subsets in experimental autoimmune uveitis

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1985
The dynamic changes of the lymphocyte subsets in the inflamed ocular tissue in Lewis rats with experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) were studied by immunohistopathological evaluation at varying intervals after initiation of the disease. Monoclonal antibodies to specific markers of the rat T-helper/inducer lymphocyte (W3/25) and T-suppressor/cytotoxic ...

Differential Regulation of Murine T Lymphocyte Subsets

Annual Review of Immunology, 1993
Signaling pathways in T lymphocytes have been incompletely characterized. It is evident that differences exist among the T cell subsets. We have defined several distinct mechanisms that affect differentially the activities of murine T lymphocyte clones representing various CD4+ and CD8+ subsets: Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) inhibits proliferation of ...

T-lymphocyte Subsets in Occupationally Exposed Persons

International Journal of Radiation Biology, 1990
The percentage of CD2+, CD4+, CD8+ and HNK-1+ cells in peripheral blood was investigated in persons occupationally exposed to very low doses of ionizing radiation. Investigations were carried out by monoclonal antibodies and flow cytometry. While significant effects of age and smoking habits on the relative number of CD8 cells and CD4/CD8 ratios could ...

T Lymphocytes Subsets in Experimental Iron Overload

Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology, 1997
Several abnormalities of the immune system have been reported in association with clinical and experimental iron overload. To dissect further such abnormalities, changes in lymphocyte subsets were evaluated in iron-loaded male Sprague-Dawley rats. The iron-loading protocol consisted of a total dose of irondextran (1.5 mg/Kg body weight) divided in ...

Regulation of T lymphocyte subsets.

Ciba Foundation symposium, 1996
Patterns of cytokine secretion and functional differences distinguish T lymphocyte subsets. T lymphocyte subsets are also regulated differentially. Most established CD8+ lymphocyte clones secrete gamma-interferon (IFN-gamma) but not interleukin 2 (IL-2) or IL-4.
