Imposing Cognitive Load to Detect Prepared Lies: A T-Pattern Approach

2016
One of the most well-documented claims in the deception literature is that humans are poor detectors of deception. Such human fallibility is exacerbated by the complexity of both deception and human behavior. The aim of our chapter is to examine whether the overall organization of behavior differ when people report truthful vs.

Using temporal patterns (t-patterns) to derive stress factors of routine tasks

CHI '09 Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2009
We describe the use of a statistical technique called T-pattern analysis to derive and characterize the routineness of tasks. T-patterns provide significant advantages over traditional sequence analyses by incorporating time. A T-pattern is characterized by a significant time window (critical interval) that describes the duration of this pattern.

An Incremental Anytime Algorithm for Mining T-Patterns from Event Streams

2018
Temporal patterns that capture frequent time differences occurring between items in a sequence are gaining increasing attention as a growing research area. Time-interval sequential patterns (also known as T-Patterns) not only capture the order of symbols but also the time delay between symbols, where the time delay is specified as a time-interval ...

A method to select patients for vertical scar or inverted-T pattern breast reduction

Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2008
Vertical scar breast reduction (VSBR) is an increasingly popular technique but can carry a high complication and revision rate. We evaluate our complication rate when selecting patients for VSBR or inverted-T breast reductions (ITBR). We looked at 133 consecutive primary bilateral breast reductions performed by a single consultant from 1998 to 2003 (23

From T-Patterns to T-Strings to T-Societies

Journal of Neurology Research Review & Reports
By the mid-1940s, two world wars in less than 40 years saw many millions killed by what were considered some of the world’s most advanced societies. Researchers wanted to make sense of such a world. Some looked to biology and primatology in their pursuit to better understand human behaviour.

Application of T-Pattern Analysis in the Study of Rodent Behavior: Methodological and Experimental Highlights

2016
In our laboratories we use T-pattern analysis to study rat behavior in different and well-known experimental assays widely employed as rodent models of anxiety: the open field, the hole board and the elevated plus maze. By using Theme software and T-pattern analysis, we have observed that numerous events, characterizing rodent behavior in each ...

Camel: A Journey Group T-Pattern Mining System Based on Instagram Trajectory Data

2014
A Journey Group T-Pattern (JG T-Pattern) is a special kind of T-Pattern(Trajectory Pattern) in which a large number of users walked through a common trajectory; also, it allows users depart from the trajectory for several times. Travel route is an instance of Journey Group and hot travel route can then be mined under the help of Camel.
