Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator T Wave Oversensing Caused by Hyperglycemia

PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2001
KRISHEN, A., et al.: Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator T Wave Oversensing Caused by Hyperglycemia. This case report highlights a previously unreported cause of T wave oversensing in a patient with an ICD and recent onset diabetes. Consistent T wave oversensing was observed at elevated serum glucose levels and this finding was reproduced with a ...

ECG predictors of T wave oversensing in subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators

International Journal of Cardiology, 2016
T wave oversensing (TWOS) is the commonest cause of inappropriate shocks in subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators (S-ICDs). We hypothesise that predictors of TWOS can be derived from surface ECG parameters. In a cohort of SICD recipients in two UK centres, all patients who had TWOS (study group) were compared to all those who had not ...

T Wave Oversensing in Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators

Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, 2004
The implantable cardioverter defibrillator is the treatment of choice for patients with ventricular tachycardia, especially in the setting of structural heart disease, but inappropriate therapy continues to be a problem. In this report we describe a short case series of patients who presented with T wave oversensing.

Transient hyperkalemia-induced T-wave oversensing as a cause of inappropriate ICD discharges [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardiology Cases, 2013
The present case describes a patient with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) who reported several ICD inappropriate discharges due to transient T-wave oversensing in the setting of acute hyperkalemia. T-wave oversensing was detected only at telemetry interrogation while T-wave amplitude at surface 12-lead electrocardiogram was normal ...

Pseudo-Oversensing of the T Wave by an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator: A Nonclinical Problem

PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1994
Two patients are described who had pseudo‐oversensing of T waves during follow‐up testing of the Medtronic PCD. Each patient exhibited appropriate T wave sensing following closely coupled spontaneous QRS complexes to subthreshold stimuli without having T wave sensing following sensed or paced complexes.

T Wave Oversensing by a Cardioverter Defibrillator Implanted in a Patient with the Brugada Syndrome

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2004
Oversensing of electrical signals in recipients of ICDs is a common complication causing the delivery of inappropriate therapy. The Brugada syndrome has a characteristic ECG pattern with dynamic temporal changes in response to various physiological or environmental conditions.

Inappropriate ICD discharge due to T-wave oversensing in a patient with the brugada syndrome

Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, 2006
Accurate sensing is an essential requirement for appropriate functioning of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). T-wave oversensing remains as an annoying problem in currently available ICD. The Brugada syndrome with its inherent dynamic variations in electrophysiologic phenomena may complicate ICD therapy.
