Strategy to manage T-Wave Oversensing in a Biventricular ICD

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cardiovascular Practice, 2017
T-wave oversensing is a relatively prevalent cause of intracardiac signals oversensing in patients with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD). Some of these oversensings are typically corrected with device reprogramming. If reprogramming fails to resolve the issue, invasive options such as repositioning the implanted lead may be necessary.

SMART pass will prevent inappropriate operation of S‐ICD

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2019
Background Compared to screening ECG before implantation of a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter‐defibrillator (S‐ICD), selectable vectors without T‐wave oversensing increase after S‐ICD implantation. Newer algorithms have recently become available to

Strategy to Eliminate Inappropriate Shocks Secondary to T‐Wave Oversensing in a Biventricular ICD [PDF]

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2008
T‐wave oversensing represents a common cause of inappropriate shocks in patients with implanted cardiac defibrillators. This case report demonstrates a strategy of device programming using V‐V pace delay (sequential rather than simultaneous biventricular pacing) to eliminate T‐wave oversensing without decreasing sensitivity to detect true ...

Expert Consensus Statement: Committee on Implantable Devices and Committee on Social Issues, Japanese Heart Rhythm Society (JHRS) Statement on Remote Monitoring of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
This statement of the Japanese Heart Rhythm Society (JHRS) provides comprehensive guidance for medical professionals and device manufacturers involved in RM. ABSTRACT Remote monitoring (RM) has been established as a standard tool for the management of patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), offering advantages such as early event ...

Importance of exercise testing shortly after subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation in patients with Brugada syndrome – The first case of associated inappropriate shock in Japan

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
We report the case of a 51-year-old patient with Brugada syndrome (BrS) who experienced inappropriate shock due to T-wave oversensing (TWOS) during exercise when the optimal sensing vector was selected based on the automatic analysis by a subcutaneous ...

Successful Extensive Pulsed Field Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation Without Leadless Pacemaker Interference

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Although Pulsed field ablation (PFA) has demonstrated efficacy for atrial fibrillation, its safety in patients with leadless pacemaker remains uncertain. This case suggests that extensive PFA involving persistent left superior vena cava, superior vena cava, and left atrial posterior wall can be safely performed without device interference.

Two undesired conditions resulting from T-Wave oversensing in two patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: Inappropriate ICD shocks and pacemaker dysfunction

open access: yesResearch in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2017
Introduction: T-wave oversensing (TWOS) is generally seen in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and is a rare cause of inappropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks. TWOS rarely causes pacemaker dysfunction.

Combined Application of a Helix‐Fixation Leadless Pacemaker and a Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter‐Defibrillator in a Dialysis Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Combined use of S‐ICD and LP provides an effective alternative for patients requiring defibrillation and pacing while avoiding transvenous leads. This strategy is particularly valuable for patients with a high risk of infection, though careful consideration must be given to minimizing potential device–device interactions.

Inappropriate shocks from a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator due to oversensing during periods of rate-related bundle branch block

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) is a novel technology with proven efficacy in sudden cardiac death prevention; however, there is a lack of long-term safety data.
