Occurrence Rate of Hot Jupiters Around Early-type M Dwarfs Based on Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite Data

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2022
We present an estimate of the occurrence rate of hot Jupiters (7 R _⊕ ≤ R _p ≤ 2 R _J , 0.8 ≤ P _b ≤ 10 days) around early-type M dwarfs based on stars observed by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) during its primary mission.

The 2MASS Wide-Field T Dwarf Search. IV Unting out T dwarfs with Methane Imaging

open access: yes, 2005
We present first results from a major program of methane filter photometry for low-mass stars and brown dwarfs. The definition of a new methane filter photometric system is described.

Spectroscopic Detection of Carbon Monoxide in Two Late-type T Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
M band spectra of two late-type T dwarfs, 2MASS J09373487+2931409, and Gliese 570D, confirm evidence from photometry that photospheric CO is present at abundance levels far in excess of those predicted from chemical equilibrium. These new and unambiguous

The Search for Brown Dwarfs around White Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2003
The infrared search for substellar companions to nearby white dwarfs has been going on for a little more than a decade. The most recent phase has been a wide field proper motion search carried out primarily at Steward Observatory, where we are complete down to J = 18. Earlier phases included near field searches at the IRTF and Keck Observatory.

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Binarity at the L/T brown dwarf transition

open access: yes, 2008
Current atmospheric models cannot reproduce some of the characteristics of the transition between the L dwarfs with cloudy atmospheres and the T dwarfs with dust-depleted photospheres.

UVES spectra of young brown dwarfs in Cha I: radial and rotational velocities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Based on high-resolution UVES spectra we found that the radial velocity (RV) dispersion of nine of twelve known young bona fide and candidate brown dwarfs in the Cha I dark cloud is 2.0 km/s, i.e.

Accreting white dwarf [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Supernovae: lights in the darkness — PoS(SUPERNOVA), 2008
Thermonuclear (type Ia) supernovae are explosions in accreting white dwarfs, but the exact scenario leading to these explosions is still unclear. An important step to clarify this point is to understand the behaviour of accreting white dwarfs in close binary systems.

Searching for planetary-mass T-dwarfs in the core of Serpens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We searched for isolated planetary-mass T-dwarfs in the 3Myr old Serpens Core cluster. We performed a deep imaging survey of the central part of this cluster using the WIRCam camera at the CFHT. Observations were performed through the narrow-band CH4_off
