T Tauri Stars, Pre-T Tauri Stars, and Stellar Jets [PDF]
The properties of the pre-main-sequence T Tauri stars are described in relation to the likely properties of their predecessors. These predecessors, the “pre-T Tauri stars”, are thought to be the stars responsible for exciting Herbig-Haro objects. Pre-T Tauri stars are capable of generating “stellar jets” by which bipolar flows carry material out into ...

T Tauri stars: an overview [PDF]
The review presents the main aspects of the body of knowledge on T Tauri variable stars, which are presumed to be young, gravitationally contracting low-mass stars. The author first reviews their often exotic properties in the different wavelength ranges accessible to modern astronomy and discuss the data's immediate interpretation.

The T Tauri stars have always been somewhat mysterious, displaying a bewildering variety of spectral peculiarities and variability. They are relatively faint, yet demand the highest quality observations to help unravel their puzzles. In the last few years they have been studied with a new level of detail and in a developing context of star formation ...

The Ultraviolet Variability of the T Tauri Stars
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1998T Tauri stars (TTSs) show enhanced ultraviolet (UV) continuum and line emission with respect to main sequence stars of similar spectral types (Imhoff & Appenzeller 1989; Gomez de Castro, 1998). There is mounting evidence of this excess being produced by the release of gravitational energy from infalling material (Bertout et al 1988, Simon et al 1990 ...

Several problems of the theory of the RV Tauri stars are reviewed on the basis of the numerical nonlinear modelling. We analyse the nature of the alternating pulsations of these variables, and discuss their relation to the period doubling phenomenon in W Virginis stars.

Rotation of T Tauri Stars Revisited
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1998This paper reviews the rotation of T Tauri stars. It summarizes the results of a complete bibliographical survey of all photometric and spectroscopic data available in connection with rotation studies of these stars. It is shown that T Tauri stars are slow rotators. More than half of the stars in the sample have been found to have v sin i < 25 km/s.

An introduction to T Tauri stars
2008These lectures are meant as an introduction to some basic physical processes taking place in T Tauri stars. The first section is devoted to a brief description of the various optically visible objects encountered in molecular clouds, and also gives a short overview of early studies of young stellar objects.
