In this chapter we shall explain relational database management systems, databases, tables and column fields and records. Where appropriate, reference will be made to the MySQL database management system as this is the database system which we will use later in this book to manage our databases.

An Alternative Database Table Design
Journal of Technology in Human Services, 2007ABSTRACT Social workers oftentimes experience a disconnect between the work they do and how that work is captured by agency databases. The database design described in this article attempts to remedy some of those issues–specifically, having to enter identical client information more than one time, not having a way to capture complex family ...

Image databases and near-perfect hash table
Pattern Recognition, 1997Abstract The 2D-string is one of the important data structures to represent spatial information in images and has been used to perform queries in image database systems. A 2D string can be readily converted to a set of triples which can be used to generate a perfect hash table for indexing the image database.

When developing applications, you’ll often be required to create a database and add tables to it, rather than just using an existing database and table objects. This chapter is about creating a fresh database and then creating the tables that it contains.

Create and Test a Database and Table
2018This chapter introduces the concept of a database and a practical way of testing it. Using the examples, you will create a MariaDB or MySQL database and a table. As you work through the examples, you will become familiar with the database administration interface.

A table presentation system for database and Web applications
IEEE International Conference on e-Technology, e-Commerce and e-Service, 2004. EEE '04. 2004, 2004Report generation is arguably the most important task for database applications. It is especially important for e-commerce applications, since dynamic Web pages consisting of database reports are essential to almost every transaction. When a report is generated, the layout of the data sources must be converted to the layout of the report.

Parallel algorithm for table division in relational databases
Microprocessing and Microprogramming, 1993Abstract From a sequential implementation of the division algebraic operator applied to Relational Database tables, we develop and show in this paper a parallel version of the same operator that improve its effectiveness in execution time running on a parallel machine model.

Managing Large Tables and Databases
2012Very large tables (where you have row counts in the tens of millions) have special needs. All data manipulations and maintenance operations need special considerations. This chapter will deal with features in SQL Server that can help; specifically, I’ll cover how partitioning a table can ease data movements and how the use of filegroups and data ...
