Assessing the rigidity of thermoplastic masks for head immobilization effectiveness in stereotactic radiosurgery

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract This study compared three Brainlab thermoplastic masks—Cranial 4pi basic, stereotactic (Close Mask V2), and open‐face—to see how well they limited head movement during Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Using a head phantom, we tested rotational movements (pitch, yaw, and roll) and measured displacements with the ExacTrac system.

Open‐source deep‐learning models for segmentation of normal structures for prostatic and gynecological high‐dose‐rate brachytherapy: Comparison of architectures

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The use of deep learning‐based auto‐contouring algorithms in various treatment planning services is increasingly common. There is a notable deficit of commercially or publicly available models trained on large or diverse datasets containing high‐dose‐rate (HDR) brachytherapy treatment scans, leading to poor performance on images ...

Novel CT radiomics models for the postoperative prediction of early recurrence of resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A single‐center retrospective study in China

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To assess the predictive capability of CT radiomics features for early recurrence (ER) of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods Postoperative PDAC patients were retrospectively selected, all of whom had undergone preoperative CT imaging and surgery. Both patients with resectable or borderline‐resectable pancreatic cancer met

General and mechanistic optimal relationships for tensile strength of doubly convex tablets under diametrical compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a general framework for determining optimal relationships for tensile strength of doubly convex tablets under diametrical compression. This approach is based on the observation that tensile strength is directly proportional to the breaking force and inversely proportional to a non-linear function of geometric parameters and materials ...

Systematic literature review and network meta-analysis of cladribine tablets versus alternative disease-modifying treatments for relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis

open access: yesCurrent Medical Research and Opinion, 2018
Objective: To assess the comparative efficacy and safety of cladribine tablets versus alternative disease modifying treatments (DMTs) in patients with active relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), and in a subgroup with high disease activity (HRA

Disaggregation of compressed tablets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1974
Tablets of dibasic calcium phosphate containing varying proportions of intra- to extragranular maize starch were prepared at three compaction pressures. The surface area generated per tablet after 10 and 30 min of disintegration was measured with an automated counter by a new technique.
