Evidence for a Modulatory Effect of a 12‐Week Pomegranate Juice Intervention on the Transcriptional Response in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients Reducing Fecal Calprotectin Levels: Findings From a Proof‐of‐Principle Study

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study investigated how pomegranate juice affects inflammation in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are currently in remission. After 12 weeks of drinking pomegranate juice, patients showed reduced markers of intestinal inflammation.

Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 in a Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer Cell on a Metal Molecular Electrocatalyst

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
A zero‐gap proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cell using Nafion®117 membrane‐containing copper porphyrin cathode electrocatalyst in CO2 saturated 0.1 M aqueous NaOH catholyte produces C2H4, CO, and CH4 as products. Electrochemical reduction of CO2 (ECR) on transition metal‐containing porphyrin systems often leads to carbon monoxide.

Anti‐Inflammatory/Antioxidant Features of Adipose Tissue Mesenchymal Stem Cells Conditioned Media for Doped TiO2 Nanoparticles in Induced Inflammation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
The PI3K/AKT pathway is triggered when lipopolysaccharide (LPS) binds to TLR4 on the cell membrane. This causes the NF‐κB complex to get phosphorylated and IKB to degrade, allowing NF‐κB to go into the nucleus. Pro‐inflammatory genes including interleukin‐4 (IL‐4), IL‐6, and tumor necrosis factor α are triggered by this.

A fisher's perspective: Using half a century of local fisher knowledge to identify socio‐economic, ecological and legislative trends influencing angelshark (Squatina squatina) records in Wales

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The evolution of marine fisheries has broadly influenced the ecology, distribution and abundance of coastal elasmobranchs. However, quantifying these interactions remains a challenge due to the scarcity of historical records. Fishers' local ecological knowledge (LEK) is an essential tool in fisheries research, providing an avenue to regain ...
