Skin‐Like Tri‐Modal Sensors Based on Soft Piezoelectric and Ionic Composites
Inspired by the multimodal perception of human skin, a soft, skin‐like tri‐modal sensor is presented. The device incorporates an ionically conductive, piezoelectric, elastic composite as its active layer, enabling independent detection of temperature, static strain, and dynamic strain within a single two‐terminal architecture.

Magnetostrictive tactile sensor of detecting friction and normal force for object recognition
Tactile information is valuable in determining properties of objects that are inaccessible from visual perception. A new type of tangential friction and normal contact force magnetostrictive tactile sensor was developed based on the inverse ...

Evaluating Two Novel Tactile Feedback Devices [PDF]
Adding haptic feedback to virtual reality simulations and telepresence applications increases immersion to human users. As for some applications the use of force-feedback devices is impracticable or not sufficient, tac-tile devices can be utilized as ...

Interaction of perceptual grouping and crossmodal temporal capture in tactile apparent-motion [PDF]
Previous studies have shown that in tasks requiring participants to report the direction of apparent motion, task-irrelevant mono-beeps can "capture'' visual motion perception when the beeps occur temporally close to the visual stimuli. However, the

Implicit processing of tactile information: Evidence from the tactile change detection paradigm
People can maintain accurate representations of visual changes without necessarily being aware of them. Here, we investigate whether a similar phenomenon (implicit change detection) also exists in touch. In Experiments 1 and 2, participants detected the presence of a change between two consecutively-presented tactile displays.

Tactile Navigation Display [PDF]
The use of the tactile modality is not common in Human Computer Interaction. However, there may be good reasons to do so. For example in situations in which the visual sense is restricted (e.g., in virtual environments lacking a wide field of view, or ...
