Pinopsin Regulates Melatonin Production and Daily Locomotor Activity: Functional Insights From Gene-Edited Xenopus Tadpoles. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Circadian rhythm alignment depends on environmental light detection via opsins. Pinopsin, originally identified in the pineal organ of birds and later in amphibian pineal complex and eyes, may play a role in this process, though its function has not been genetically tested.

Roundup™ With Corticosterone Functions as an Infodisruptor to Antipredator Response in Tadpoles
Larval amphibians are frequently exposed to multiple stressors in aquatic environments, so understanding how individual stressors and synergisms of multiple stressors affect amphibians is integral to conservation efforts.

Tadpoles of two sympatric anurans, Bufo gargarizans Cantor, 1842 and Rana zhenhaiensis Ye, Fei & Matsui, 1995, were used as model organisms to examine the effects of different levels of tail loss on swimming performance and survival.

We show that massless RR tadpoles in vacuum configurations with open and unoriented strings are always related to anomalies. RR tadpoles arising from sectors of the internal SCFT with non-vanishing Witten index are in one-to-one correspondence with conventional irreducible anomalies.

The mechanism of food detection in tadpoles of Polypedates maculatus was experimentally tested. We used a rectangular glass test tank with stimulus zones in opposite ends to provide visual and/or chemical food.

The gut microbiome is important for digestion, host fitness, and defense against pathogens, which provides a tool for host health assessment. Amphibians and their microbiomes are highly susceptible to pollutants including antibiotics.

Tadpole galaxies have a giant star-forming region at the end of an elongated intensity distribution. Here we use SDSS data to determine the ages, masses, and surface densities of the heads and tails in 14 local tadpoles selected from the Kiso and Michigan surveys of UV-bright galaxies, and we compare them to tadpoles previously studied in the Hubble ...

The comparative vulnerability of two co-existing tadpole species (Indosylvirana temporalis and Clinotarsus curtipes) to their common predator, water scorpions (Laccotrephes sp.; Hemiptera: Nepidae), and the importance of refugia in predator avoidance ...

Anuran tadpoles inhabiting a fluoride-rich stream: diets and morphological indicators
We in situ assessed the influence of natural fluoride concentrations in lotic freshwater ecosystems on diet and morphology of Boana cordobae tadpoles. Two streams were sampled in Argentina: Los Vallecitos stream (LF-LV) and Los Cerros Negros stream (HF ...
