Preliminary Evaluation of In Situ Chemical Oxidation Effects on Soil Carbon Dioxide Emission in a Soil Slurry System

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), a remediation technology for soil and groundwater contamination, utilizes oxidants that can impact the soil environment and indirectly influence soil CO2 emissions. Understanding these emissions may support more sustainable ISCO applications by enabling adjustments to treatment conditions that limit ...

Teaching research and evidence based medicine to medical students using a flipped classroom framework

open access: yesTeaching Statistics, Volume 48, Issue S1, Page S77-S88, Summer 2026.
Abstract Flipped classroom is becoming increasingly common in higher education, yet a frequent criticism is that students often fail to engage with the assigned material before class. In a large methodology module for medical students, we examined when students engaged with the assigned material (pre‐recorded videos), and whether watching the videos ...

Multi-objective optimization of visual and tactile desirability of wooden textures

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing
Affective and aesthetic qualities of textures largely depend on their visual and tactile features. However, to date, no systematic methods have been established for the design of such textures.

Mechanisms of the QBO Influence on the Tropical Troposphere: Modulation by ENSO Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract The Quasi‐Biennial Oscillation (QBO) is the dominant mode of tropical stratospheric variability that can influence tropospheric circulation and convection. El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which is the primary source of interannual variability in the tropical troposphere, can modulate both the QBO and its impact on the tropical troposphere.

Mechanistic Optimization of Pressure Transmission for Defect Mitigation in Thick‐Walled Aerospace‐Grade Polyetherimide

open access: yesSPE Polymers, Volume 7, Issue 3, July 2026.
Gate freeze time (GFT) controls internal void formation in thick‐walled injection‐molded polyetherimide (PEI). Extending GFT by optimizing cooling time and mold temperature reduces void size from the baseline (large voids) to an optimized condition (voids reduced), as confirmed by ultrasonic C‐scan inspection.

Optimizing Wind Power Plant Locations: A GIS‐Based Approach With Interval Type‐2 Fuzzy Risk Deviation Performance Index

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This study develops an integrated GIS and multicriteria decision making (MCDM) approach supported by the Interval Type‐2 Fuzzy Risk Deviation Performance Index (IT2F‐RDPI) method to assess the wind energy potential in Diyarbakır Province. Fifteen criteria, including wind speed, slope, land use, elevation, soil structure, and proximity to ...

Mechanical, Thermal, and Microstructural Evaluation of Bio‐Based Polyurethane Composites Reinforced With Woven Jute and Flax

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue S2, Page S318-S335, 20 June 2026.
Graphical overview of the manufacturing and characterization of bio‐based polyurethane composites reinforced with woven jute and flax fibers produced by the VARTM process. Mechanical, thermal, and microstructural analyses reveal differences in stiffness, thermal stability, and interfacial behavior between the natural fiber composites.

Linking Probabilistic Forecast Reliability to the Mismatch Between Model–Observation and Model–Model Correlations in Dynamical Seasonal Prediction

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Reliability is central to probabilistic forecast skill, and linking it to nonprobabilistic diagnostics is essential for interpreting its behavior and deficits. Although recent studies have suggested a possible relationship between reliability in dynamical seasonal prediction and the mismatch between model–observation correlation (r $r$) and ...

Evaluation of Mechanical, Thermal, Rheological, and Biocompatibility Properties of Additively Manufactured Metal‐Reinforced Biocomposites Optimized by Reinforcement Ratios and Printing Parameters

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 11, Page 10258-10281, 10 June 2026.
Schematic illustration of PLA/316L stainless steel composite filament production via fused deposition modeling, demonstrating the trade‐off between stainless steel content, mechanical enhancement, and biocompatibility. ABSTRACT Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic widely used in biomedical devices; however, its inherent brittleness ...

Feature Selection Optimization for Mahalanobis–Taguchi System with Binary Quantum Behavior Particle Swarm

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2019
When the standard binary particle swarm is used for the feature selection optimization of Mahalanobis–Taguchi system, the computational speed is slow and the selected features combination of Mahalanobis–Taguchi system is prone to falling into the local ...
