Applying Taguchi methods to health care

Leadership in Health Services, 2006
PurposeThe aim of this article is to show how Taguchi methods can be applied to health care.Design/methodology/approachThe quadratic loss function is at the heart of Taguchi methods. It is a powerful motivator for a quality strategy and can be used to adequately model the loss to society in health care.

Taguchi's Idle Column Method

Technometrics, 1991
The idle column method, proposed by Taguchi, enables a two-level orthogonal array to be used as the basis of a mixed-level fractional factorial experiment. The resulting designs are not orthogonal but can in some circumstances be described as nearly orthogonal.

Photoreceptor Optimization Via Taguchi Methods

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987
<div class="htmlview paragraph">ITT was introduced to the Taguchi Method of experimental design and analysis in mid 1983. This paper briefly summarizes our progress and achievements with this powerful technique, and offers an example of a successful application.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The Photoreceptor project was the ...

The Taguchi method

WIREs Computational Statistics, 2011
AbstractAchieving robustness in product and process designs is of importance to various stakeholders such as manufacturers, suppliers, and consumers. As variability exists in all operations, it is desirable to create products and processes that are not very sensitive to factors that are not controllable.

Introduction to Taguchi Methods

2017
We have seen how, using fractional-factorial designs, we can obtain a substantial amount of information efficiently. Although these techniques are powerful, they are not necessarily intuitive. For years, they were available only to those who were willing to devote the effort required for their mastery, and to their clients.

Drilling process improvement by Taguchi method

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract This paper focuses on the optimization of drilling input variables using the Taguchi method to reduced drilling defect-delamination on carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). CNC vertical machine used to conduct experimental work. The experimental work was performed on CFRP material using twist drill with different helix angle under dry ...

A NEW INSIGHT INTO THE TAGUCHI METHOD

Quality Assurance, 2002
To obtain high quality products at low cost and in a short time is an economical and technological challenge to today's engineering community. Design of Experiments based on the Taguchi approach is a powerful technique to attain this objective. In some processes, it is necessary to consider not only two factors but also the ratio of their levels 'as a ...

GPS jamming mitigation through Taguchi's optimization method

2017 25th Telecommunication Forum (TELFOR), 2017
This paper describes an adaptive antenna array that is able to spatially filter out multiple jamming signals from different directions using Taguchi's Optimization Method. A GPS antenna should cover a wide spatial angle to receive the maximum number of GPS signals but not too wide because jamming signals usually comes from a low elevation angle ...

An observation on taguchi methods

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 1989
AbstractA Taguchi example is used in this note to look at statistical significance under assumptions that may not hold true in a given experiment. I also make a case for including physical reasoning in the experimental process as a way to help in making close calls and to help avoid pitfalls.

Robust PID controllers by Taguchi's method

The TQM Magazine, 2005
PurposeThe aim of the paper is the fine‐tuning of proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers under model parameter uncertainties (noise).Design/methodology/approachThe fine‐tuning of PID controllers achieved using the Taguchi method following the steps given: selection of the control factors of the PID with their levels; identification of the ...
