Tai Chi and Pulmonary Conditions

open access: yes, 2021
Introduction: Tai Chi, a low-intensity exercise, has been found to have numerous health benefits throughout all systems of the body. Due to Tai Chi's focus on controlled breath and diaphragmatic breathing, Tai Chi has been shown to improve pulmonary

Swelling‐Induced Stress‐Assisted Transfer of Nanodiamond Arrays With a PVA Carrier Tape for Conformal Bio‐Integrated Sensing and Labelling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a swelling‐induced, stress‐assisted water‐soluble PVA tape strategy to transfer‐print nanodiamond quantum‐sensor arrays onto soft, curved biological interfaces. The room‐temperature, water‐triggered process achieves >98% fidelity and residue‐free integration, enabling conformal quantum sensing on contact lenses, neural probes, and ...

Long‐Range Coordination Environment Modulates Single‐Atom Local States and Systemic Impact on CO2 Photoconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal groups on Cu porphyrins modulate the electronic states of single‐atom Cu centers through a long‐range electronic effect, without altering the Cu coordination geometry. Meanwhile, a multi‐descriptor framework is established that incorporates porphyrin regulation, hybrid catalyst properties, and CO2 photoreduction capabilities.

Second‐Harmonic Hyper‐Mie Optical Activity Enables Closed‐Loop Chiral Photochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear chiral photochemistry is demonstrated in CdTe/CdO nanohelices, where circularly polarized infrared light both drives and tracks photo‐oxidation via second‐harmonic scattering. This closed‐loop process reveals real‐time structural evolution, including shell fracturing and core exposure, accompanied by a transition from hyper‐Mie to hyper ...

The effect of Tai Chi on plasma homocysteine in 1176 adults: a propensity score matching-based study

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Background Tai Chi is a low-impact form of exercise that involves a series of slow movements that flow together. Increased plasma homocysteine(Hcy) levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and may be reduced by exercise ...

E. coli Extracellular Matrix: A Tunable Composite With Hierarchical Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The complex composite‐like mechanical behavior of E. coli biofilm matrix is the result of a synergic contribution of the rigid curli and swelling pEtN‐cellulose, and emerges from specific ratio and assembly conditions. The interactions between the two fibers govern biofilm hydration and characteristic wrinkling patterns, providing crucial insights for ...
