Rare-event Simulation and Efficient Discretization for the Supremum of Gaussian Random Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we consider a classic problem concerning the high excursion probabilities of a Gaussian random field $f$ living on a compact set $T$.

Interfacial Modulation for High‐Efficiency Large‐Area Organic Photovoltaics and Perovskite‐Organic Tandem Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Bounding Standard Gaussian Tail Probabilities

open access: yes, 2010
We review various inequalities for Mills' ratio (1 - Φ)= O, where O and Φ denote the standard Gaussian density and distribution function, respectively. Elementary considerations involving finite continued fractions lead to a general approximation scheme which implies and refines several known bounds.

Modeling Large Values of Systolic Blood Pressure in the Portuguese Population

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2019
It has been well stated that high values of blood pressure constitute a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases [20], with the latter being the number one death cause in Portugal.

Scaling Conditional Tail Probability and Quantile Estimators [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2009
We present a novel procedure for scaling relatively high frequency tail probability and quantile estimates for the conditional distribution of returns.

A Mechanistic Blueprint for Fast, High‐Yield Green Scintillators Using Conjugated Polymer–Nanocrystal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conjugated polymer–nanocrystal composites are investigated to develop fast, high‐yield green scintillators. The polymer F8BT enables efficient, ultrafast emission, while blends with non‐emitting HfO2 nanocrystals and luminescent CdZnS/ZnS quantum dots reveal distinct sensitization mechanisms.

Some Probability Inequalities for Quadratic Forms of Negatively Dependent Subgaussian Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2005
In this paper, we obtain the upper exponential bounds for the tail probabilities of the quadratic forms for negatively dependent subgaussian random variables.

Using Mathematica to build Non-parametric Statistical Tables

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2003
In this paper, I present computational procedures to obtian statistical tables. The tables of the asymptotic distribution and the exact distribution of Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic Dn for one population, the table of the distribution of the runs R, the ...

Active Learning‐Accelerated Discovery of Fibrous Hydrogels with Tissue‐Mimetic Viscoelasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Active learning accelerates the design of fibrous hydrogels that mimic the viscoelasticity of native tissues. By integrating multi‐objective optimization and closed‐loop experimentation, this approach efficiently identifies optimal formulations from thousands of possibilities and decouples elasticity and viscosity. The resulting hydrogels offer tunable
