Phase Tomography Using X-ray Talbot Interferometer

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
A biological tomography result obtained with an X‐ray Talbot interferometer is reported. An X‐ray Talbot interferometer was constructed using an amplitude grating fabricated by X‐ray lithography at the LIGA beamline of NewSUBARU and gold electroplating. The pitch and pattern thickness of the grating were 8 μm and 30 μm, respectively. The effective area

An interferometer based on the Talbot effect

Optics Communications, 1971
Abstract The moire effect is very sensitive in detecting small differences between two similar gratings. These differences might be caused by an object with phase gradient placed between the two gratings. The performance of such an instrument can be understood in terms of the “Talbot effect” (also called “Fourier imaging” or “self-imaging”).

Electronic talbot interferometer

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 1981
Abstract This paper explains theoretically the principle of the Talbot interferometer using two ‘Fourier images’. The experimental results show that video techniques are more useful for superimposing two ‘Fourier images’ than photographic techniques.

X-ray phase laminography with Talbot interferometer

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
Laminography is a technique for 3D volume reconstruction, extending the classical tomography to the estimation of local areas in lamellar objects. We demonstrate X-ray phase laminography by using an X-ray Talbot interferometer consisting of two transmission gratings, which has been used only for X-ray phase tomography.

Talbot Interferometer for Radial and Lateral Derivatives

Applied Optics, 1972
The theory and experimental evidence of a shearing interferometer based on the Talbot effect are presented. Multiple-shearing interferences are obtained that can be reduced to triple-shearing or doubleshearing interferences by the addition of simple spatial filtering.

Temporal impulse response of the Talbot interferometer

Optics Communications, 2007
The Talbot interferometer has been shown earlier to act as an optical tapped delay-line in the time domain. The interferometer is based on the self-imaging effect. It consists of two gratings separated by a multiple of the self-imaging distance. Here, we determine its temporal behaviour experimentally.

Analysis of polychromaticity effects in X-ray Talbot interferometer

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2010
The influence of polychromaticity of the X-ray source on the performance of an X-ray Talbot interferometer applied for phase-contrast imaging is analyzed through numerical simulations based on the Fresnel diffraction theory. The presented simulation results show that the visibility of the self-image is fairly insensitive to the source polychromaticity ...

Sensitivity of x-ray phase tomography based on Talbot and Talbot-Lau interferometer

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
The sensitivity of X-ray phase tomography based on Talbot(-Lau) interferometry is discussed. A criterion is described to evaluate the superiority of the technique in comparison to the conventional absorption-contrast method. An experimental result of X-ray phase tomography with a Talbot interferometer is compared with the criterion.

Color visualization of phase object using Talbot interferometer

Journal of Optics, 1986
A method of color visualization of a phase object based on the Talbot effect is presented. If a grating is illuminated with a collimated white-light, the distance of the Talbot image will differ for different color. By placing an identical grating at a certain distance of negative or positive Talbot image, a single color output is extracted.

Interferometer based on the Talbot effect in holography

Journal of Optics, 1995
This paper discloses an interferometer based on the Talbot effect in holography and combining in itself properties of the Talbot and of the holographic interferometers. The second grating is replaced with the hologram of the first grating in the interferometer proposed, which constitutes its difference from the Talbot interferometer and which results ...
