CONTROL OF STICKY CONTAMINANTS WITH CATIONIC TALC IN DEINKED PULP

open access: yesBioResources, 2011
In this study a cationic talc was applied to deinked pulp for control of sticky contaminants. Effects of the cationic talc on stickies and dissolved and colloid substances were investigated and compared with those of a conventional talc.

The hidden science of haptics: A pedagogical review of tactile evaluation in cosmetics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the physiological basis of tactile perception and critically examines classical and emerging sensory methods used in cosmetics, advocating for broader methodological integration and recognition of sensory analysis in the field. Abstract Sensory analysis is a cornerstone of cosmetic development, yet remains underrepresented in peer ...

The effects of pressure on immiscibility in metallic, core‐forming liquids: Implications for protoplanetary differentiation

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Mechanisms for metal core formation in rocky planetesimals and planetary embryos remain poorly constrained, in part due to complexities arising from immiscibility in core‐forming liquids at low pressures. To assess the pressure dependence of immiscibility and its role in protoplanetary differentiation, we performed experiments at 3 and 5 GPa ...

Mineralogical appraisal and beneficiation tests on some industrial minerals from Zambia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In March 1990, a visit to Zambia was made by D A Briggs of the Mineralogy and Petrology Group on behalf of the British Geological Survey/Overseas Development Administration project "Minerals for Development". The visit, which was described in Technical

Thermal, rheological and morphological properties of poly (Lactic Acid) (PLA) and talc composites

open access: yesPolímeros, 2014
In this study, composites based on poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/talc were prepared at different compositions by melt mixing in a twin screw extruder. The effect of a nucleating agent, talc, on the crystallization behavior, rheological and morphological ...

Avicenna on the PSR and Causal Necessity in the Natural World

open access: yesTheoria, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Avicenna's account of causal necessity in the natural world is a key part of his metaphysical system and it is also historically significant. Yet, there is little scholarly discussion of the philosophical basis of his view. This is surprising not only because the topic is important, but also because the view is challenging to interpret ...

Creep of Talc at Subduction Zone Conditions: Implications for Slow Slip and Strength of the Lithosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Talc can strongly influence the rheological properties of the subduction interface. Despite geologic evidence for talc at the interface, and proposed links between its rheology and slow slip events, few experiments have been conducted on talc at relevant

Ball-milling of Talc for Disposing Ni2+ Contaminated Sewage

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong
In order to achieve the efficient removal of heavy metal nickel ions in water and simultaneously recover nickel secondary resources, the natural talc mineral was modified by simple ball-milling process and directly applied for the purification of nickel ...

Moisture tempers impairment of adult Otiorhynchus sulcatus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) climbing ability by fluoropolymer, talc dust, and lithium grease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
As part of a project to develop tools for the physical exclusion of flightless root weevils, adult black vine weevils (BVW), Otiorhynchus sulcatus (F.), were placed in open enclosures with smooth walls of glass, plastic or aluminum to test their ability ...
